[April is sort of flicking through the posts here from everyone. It's what she does instead of, y'know, socialize like a normal person.
Until she comes to the bit about the Masquerade. She remembers that, scoffs a bit at the idea of it being held in the Palace of Versailles, but then she realizes something.]

Now I'm not saying I'm coming to this masquerade thing for pleasure, alright? Parties were never my thing. [Pff, yeah right.] I do want to learn more and at least try to understand this place and the people here better though. This seems a good way.

[She pauses there, looks at the screen hard like she's trying to think of the best way to ask this. She doesn't much like asking for aid.]

So besides the masks, what's required? It's not a dress up affair, is it? I kind of have a horrible eye for clothing. Or fashion. A friend of mine used to harp at me about it a lot and it isn't as if I've exactly practiced since I last saw her.

[Actually she'd been running around in a land where having any clothing at all was kind of a blessing, not even getting at what was fashionable.]

Though I suppose it doesn't really matter, it's not like this is to impress anyone. Still...

[Still she'd like to not look like she died in some hobo's closet or something if she's going to do this.]

Yeah. [She lets out a short laugh.] It really does. I guess... well, I'm not big on parties, but I want to see what this time travel's all about, so maybe I will go after all.

The masquerades back home were about the same - dress up and wear a mask. I don't think it's different here. I'm going to get a dress for it today, if you like you can join me and get yours too.

If I can just wear what I usually wear, I'm fine. I was just hoping not to stand out like too much of a sore thumb.

What can I say, I never went to masquerades. Most of those were costume affairs, I think. Maybe.

Well, what do you usually wear? If it's really casual, you probably will stick out a bit.

I think this masquerade is more - dress and mask than a full costume though.

If you truly want to understand this place better, you may find your time better spent in one of the training rooms.

In my experience, these affairs never lead to much good.

That's where I usually am, yes. Not everyone is in the training rooms twenty-four-seven though, you know. There's a certain about of socialization needed when you're trying to learn about other people around you.

You may have a hard time discerning to whom you're speaking if they're all in masks.

[It's difficult to see, but a corner of his mouth lifts beneath the heavy mustache.]

You could learn all sorts of things and never put the facts to the faces later.

[She doesn't notice the slight lift but she does smirk herself. It's April's default reaction.]

I'll take my chances. Besides, you can recognize people by voices too.
