[ being different. it's a feeling hanna knows very well, ever since she found her file and the results of her dna test -- she is the only one of her kind, and marissa hunted her because of it, needed her dead if she was not hers to use. her father kept her hidden because of it, to protect her from a world that wouldn't welcome somebody like her, and he lied to spare her the loneliness that would come with knowing that you were a piece that would never be part of any puzzle.

but it's also a secret she keeps to herself, because that's the cost of a normal life, she has realized. erik only wished to protect her from knowledge she didn't need, knowledge that she would be safer if no one had. strangers will not hear it from her. ]
