[it's a minute or so of a melody hummed, something thoughtful, simple. it persists even when she finds what she wants – that there video function, the telltale thing she knows for sure is her window to everyone else floating around with these things.

far too quiet for her, and quiet only a moment longer before she speaks up:]

I guess it's kind of complicated. Not really a thing you can explain.

[She's so misunderstood she could be a hipster, okay.]

Well, it's just...there's not that many people out there like me, so it's hard to explain to them what it's like to be 'one of us'. Does that make sense?

[allsongs]

Like you. [her hand lifts, gesturing to her own face.] Is what you mean? Face. Hair.

[Well, that gives her pause. She raises her eyebrow.]

It a problem you've got, too?

[allsongs]

[her head tilts just slightly.] There are not much of my people.

[studieswaitressing]

Has it always been that way?

[allsongs]

Yes. Always.

[studieswaitressing]

That's --. I'm sorry to hear it.

[allsongs]

[she shakes her head.]

No sorry. It is not sad to be small.

It can be lonely sometimes, though.
