[it's a minute or so of a melody hummed, something thoughtful, simple. it persists even when she finds what she wants – that there video function, the telltale thing she knows for sure is her window to everyone else floating around with these things.

far too quiet for her, and quiet only a moment longer before she speaks up:]

I guess every musical note could be considered a form of grace. I'm betting you'd enjoy listening to Hallelujah if there's a copy around here.

What is the Hallelujah? Please.

Um, the word... it's something people say related to religion? But I'm talking about a song called Hallelujah. We might have it in the library of music left over from three thousand years ago. I can sing some of it for you, but trust me, I'm not the best voice out there.

[allsongs]

[aw you done it now.

leaning forward, smiling:] Yes. Sing. Please.

Oh! Yeah, sure!

( UM... Collette concentrates, going over the words in her head and mumbling a few of them out. What she does launch into is midway through the song, starting soft as she's unsure of what she's singing.

She's untrained -- it's obvious -- but not bad. )

you don't really care for music, do you?

the minor fall, the major lift!
The baffled king composing Hallelujah...

( She knows the chorus is partly repeating the word hallelujah, so she does, scrambling for -- any of the other words. Think, Collette, think!

And eye Simmaeri to see if she still wants her singing because this might get creative in here. )

[Simmaeri visibly warms to this, ever-hungry for songs. it makes her attention and expression more open and human than usual, leaning forward, drawn in.

really, Collette could be singing gobbledygook and Simmaeri would love it just as much. she is 100% rapt attention and affection.]

( Collette continues, mixing up the verses and blithley continuing on regardless. By the end she's not sure she snag half of it right -- and she hadn't -- but it feels like a good enough effort to an audience who doesn't appear to be judgemental that she
s not terribly bothered about embarrassing herself on the public communicator.

She does realize belatedly she's been participating in impromptu bare vocals public embarrassment, feeling her face color as she laughs it off when she's done. )

Warned you it's not the best! That's the song, more or less.

[after a long breath, drinking it in, she flashes a broad, warm smile.]

Collette gives a good gift.

Hah, not really! I'm not much of a singer.

( There's a little color in her cheeks, and she rubs at one in distraction. )

It is much. So little sing in this place...It is sad. But your song is good. [pressing a hand to her chest.] Good here. Thank you.

( She wants to squirm a little, but smiles instead, nodding her head. )
