[It shifts again, this time centering on the young man that face belongs to. It's easier to see now that he's wearing black armor over a high-collared black tunic and a silver circlet on his brow. He eyes the tablet speculatively]

[It was frustrating, because he understood the nature of the threat. He'd probed the greeter and found that her story was true. Or at least, believed that it was. It didn't make him any less suspicious, considering the last people he encountered with this sort of device had sabotaged Calavere's towers and left dozen dead. It was luck that his father wasn't more severely injured.

Additionally, he knew he might even be better off here, out of reach of both the Witches and the Warriors of Vathris.

An insistence you should be grateful for. If you were brought here to fight, they will have you fight, and being unarmed when your time has come would be stupid.

Considering the things they allow you choose, they have a funny idea of what 'armed' means.

Well, you were kidnapped and brought here to fight in a war for them. I expect they have a great many 'funny ideas', weapons being the least of them.

I suppose it doesn't. But you can either be useless with it, and be killed, or else you can train with it, whatever it is.
