In a few days we will be having our second defense meeting. I realize they have dragged in several new people and I would say welcome but I highly doubt everyone feels that way.

For those new, however, I’m certain you’ve discovered the issues some may have with the Initiative. I’ll be honest when I say they could hardly give a damn about us. We are weapons to them and nothing more. Although there have been some improvements in their leadership they still leave us on the battlefields to fend for ourselves with little guidance and with little warning beforehand.

In the past months our issues have been with organizing ourselves into a unified force. We are here whether we like it or not, the more we fight the issue the less likely we will survive.

This defense group is meant to be our unification, it will defend those who cannot defend themselves and provide a more tactical offense.

I encourage you to join us and just see what this group is capable of doing. I don’t expect everyone to agree with any unification but I hope most will understand its necessity to at least try and do so. We may not agree with our predicament but there is little to fight otherwise.

The second defense meeting will be held just outside of the botanical gardens, we’ll be starting in the early morning on… [Stupid earth calendars, have a pause] Saturday.

[There’s a long pause. And. Oh. Almost forgot.] And… I’ll try and answer any questions that others may have, concerning the meeting or otherwise. For the moment I am leading it, but there will be a nomination and vote come the third meeting of which I hope everyone who is able attends. At that time we will be deciding which people are suitable to lead smaller groups and should that go well, an overall leader will be decided come a later time.

That's exactly what I mean and yes, we are fighting their war for them.

Do you understand the importance for a meeting like this then?

Yes, I think I've got it all right. You want to enforce organisation, order, and discipline, and I would think some sort of training regime. It's not exactly a difficult concept to grasp.

What I'm surprised at is that there's no such system already in place. How long have people been here at the whim of this Initiative?

I have been here for seven months, and some have been here for longer. But is it really so surprising that this has taken time though? Efforts have been made by many to build our own forces and organization but they are usually only claims. No one acts, and if they do others disagree with them being the leader of the rest of us.

We're a group of several worlds and any previous status others may have relied on no longer exist. Someone won't just listen to someone who is a King from their world when they are an Emperor themselves. [Snooort] Not to mention the difference in abilities alone.

[IGNORING THAT PART about people ignoring kings. This isn't Camelot, of course, and his only subject here is Merlin (useless), but that doesn't meant he's entirely without resources or even power. (Sort of.)]

Even seven months is far too long to take for basic organisation. If the threat of attack is as great as it's made to seem, common sense would have people form some sort of defence. So since that's not happened, I'm just to assume that there's a great many idiots without the sense to even be cowardly?

[It's sort of a rhetorical question, so, moving on--] Is there a count of how many people are here?

[Short 'hmph'. He's missing half the point.] Believe what you want about the idiots here, they're your only allies for now.

A headcount though, I can't say for certain. Before those new came here we had almost two-hundred among us. Now... I'm not sure.

Getting an accurate count should be a priority. Once it's been worked out how many people are here, and how many of those will be actually useful--there will need to be some organization--tasks assigned, things like that.

You're welcome to begin counting then. People come and go here rather often, so keep in mind your headcount may only be valid for less than a week at most. But it would be ideal, I agree. And if you can manage an accurate number of people here as well as a count of those useful, I'd be grateful to hear about it. Along with, of course, those actually willing to participate in any organization we can create on our own.

Oh, I won't be counting. My servant Merlin is accustomed to attending to such details. [a.k.a. doing boring trivial tasks that no one wants to do.] He can't be trusted to establish the usefulness of those here, but he can at least gather the information.

Yes, and someone incapable of doing such minor details and leaving it to a servant should be deciding others' usefulness. Tell me, are you even capable of dressing yourself in the morning without assistance? It must get very tiresome to have to call on others.

I think we're done talking. Best of luck with getting your headcount but I think I can manage such a trivial detail on my own.

I'm perfectly capable of dressing myself, thank you, and of establishing a count of people. Neither of those things require any particular skill.

But if you want to discount my experience in matters just like this, by all means, go ahead. It's an excellent start to your plan of organization and working together.
