Hello, network. I am Leliana, for all the new people here and those that do not remember.

One of my favorite preoccupations is storytelling. That is, listening to stories and telling them. I've been wondering...

A lot of us come from different places, yes? Different places mean different cultures, and to get to my point, different stories. I don't know if there is a collection of some sort, or if this has been asked before, but I want to listen to fables, myths or legends of all sorts from your homelands, if you will indulge me. That way, I can spread these marvelous stories in my travels if/when I get back to Thedas.

If you're more of the listening sort, I will be more than happy to relay stories from where I came from.

I'm good with that. After you, then.

[...Huh. The darkspawn sounded an awful lot like Shadows from his home. And the whole story a more demented version of Genesis.]

Interesting. That could pass as something from my world. Minus the darkspawn and the taint part, but there are similarities here and there to some that I know.

My version's a lot more boring, but whatever.

It's said that, in the beginning of everything, there was a God. Because he willed it, he created light, and the land, and sea, and all the plants and animals to make the perfect paradise of Eden. To top it all off, he created the first two humans to live there, Adam and Eve. They were allowed to live there, free of want and desire, so long as they do not eat the fruit from a certain tree, the tree of Knowledge of good and evil.

They were content to live like that, until a snake approached Eve, and tempted her to eat the fruit of Knowledge. She resisted, but eventually gave in to curiosity, and not only ate it herself, but had Adam eat it, as well. They gained the knowledge of good and evil, but for their sin, God banished them from Eden, forcing them to live on the much less forgiving world outside of paradise.

Didn't abandon them, no, but he did follow their descendants around for years and killed a lot of them off.

He was very bipolar.

A lot of the gods in various Earth mythologies aren't the most virtuous of figures.

Think about it. If you ruled over an entire race of people and they could do nothing to touch you, wouldn't you be a bit of a dick after a while?

There's a saying, where I come from. "With absolute power comes absolute corruption." You say that, but it's hard to tell for sure until you're actually in the position.

Almost, yeah. Most of the stories about deities in my world are fictional, though.

I thought all of them were fictional, but something happened and I ended up fighting a goddess.

More or less, yeah.

Long story.
