[ He laughs and gives a small shrug. ]

Maybe. But there is always the privacy of my bedroom.

Well, naturally! I suppose there can be no complaints if you and your guests are neatly sequestered, hmm?

[sithiche]

Oh, I don't know if that will stop one of them from complaining. But he'll get over it.

An ill-tempered roommate! And which is that?

Why, then I visited your apartment once already, in his company! A charming sort, isn't he?

I would call him charming, but I'm not actually allowed to tell bold-faced lies.

It's the law of my kind. The punishment is... not worth it.

That seems a somewhat unkind law.

If you don't mind my asking, what's the punishment?

[ He shrugs. ]

It has been standard of our kind forever. No one seems to want to change it. Doing so would just mean that other people could get away with lying to you, not just the other way around.

[ He seems to hesitate before responding. ]

Sometimes you can get off easy for minor offences. But breaking your word gets you left at the mercy of the Sluagh.

It seems to me as if the world would be a considerably more miserable place without any lying going about...

Dare I ask what the Slu... Sluagh is?

They were fey, once. But now they're stuck between life and death... Undead is the apt term for it, I suppose. Been that way for longer than anyone can remember, long enough that no one knows anymore how they got that way in the first place. Some people say that the earth rejected them upon death, just refused to take them back into nature as is standard for my kind.

Regardless, the millennia have... changed them. Corrupted them so that they're hardly recognizable as what they once were. Their minds are more like animals now-- vicious ones. And they're... Well, there's a reason that they're used as a threat.
