oo5 ⊗ video ⊗ fifth move ⟹ backdated to oct 5th.

[ charles is visibly distressed when he appears on the screen, this time. he's in what seems to be some underground facility, and there are other faces behind him—notably collette, emma, galadriel, raven, and others. his eyes remain closed for a second and you can hear him take a deep breath. then: ]

We have... borrowed a gentleman by the name of Richard Lawson...—from the United Earth. He is a cabinet member of the President's. Yes, the President of the United Earth. [ charles clears his throat, steels himself. ]

We've learnt a great many things about the United Earth from his head, and we feel it best to share that information with all of you, here on the Network.

[ charles states the next words with a heavy voice. ]

The President of the United Earth is not human. "He" is—artificial. Artificial Intelligence, or what you would call an A.I.. The United Earth... has never seen his face, as far as we have deduced.

We will try to answer questions about what we have learnt to the very best of our ability, but do be patient. Ah—[ he closes his eyes again, considering. then he nods as though he's made the right decision and he knows it. ]

That is all.

( note: wow i knew i forgot something like a winner. THIS TAKES PLACE DURING/AFTER these linked shenanigans: [ x ] [ x ] [ x ] [ x ] )

I wonder if there's some kind of specific to machines attack people can use? I'm not sure with tech stuff. One of our Alice's says she's fought with something like this kind of AI before, and probably a few other people have experience with them! All the same, I don't know if it's that weird. There are some amazingly advanced robots out there, with their own AI systems to work, right? Brains are brains are brains are brains. Some are just a different kind of organic than others.

[Collette, you're talking too fast again.]

... I can't say. My experience with machines is extremely limited. [He scritches his chin.] I would like to know more about the citizens of this "United Earth" and how they live.

[ It's a skill she really doesn't need to excel at, yet she does. ]

They're regular. Not in being normal or anything, but if how Dick lives is how most of the people live, then it's doing the same thing every day without questioning it. You wake up in the morning, take an injection of your medication, and you go to school or work. You watch what you're supposed to, you do what you're told, and you don't seem to do a whole lot of thinking.

I guess they keep families down to one kid per family. I get the impression they're really big into making perfect humans, too, so they do a lot of tinkering to get perfect genetic mixes. Won't see one of me happening in the UE!

[He feels a little cold, hearing about such... mental slavery. The way she talks about herself isn't that great either. One thing at a time.]

I wonder if there are citizens who do not follow this method. A high-ranking official might not have known of them, but they could exist beneath the world's notice.

[His eyes go back to the screen.]

They are concerned about bloodlines?

I bet there are, exactly because it's too perfect for everyone to follow along just like that, and why else do you march the military through the streets? If you've got perfect control, would you need a show of force to remind people who's in charge?

[ To his last question, she shrugs. ]

Must be. They want to eliminate genetic defects at the very least. It's not a terrible idea! I wonder what else they're doing, you know? That bothers me more.
