Say what you will about mortality, the moment after the fear of death passes is truly a beautiful thing. I'm even feeling good about getting to move back into that tiny apartment and seeing these endless gray skies. Even the smell of smoke is almost pleasant after the smell of unwashed humanity cowering in catacombs.

My life was rather free of that particular fear until fairly recently, yes.

I feel better now that we're not being bombed, at least.

For the short term, I plan to splurge and get some food that is not bland survival rations as celebration of not being crushed by a cave in.

There's nothing suspicious about it. I am a terrible cook. I can prepare food to the point that it's not raw and unhealthy to eat. Usually by sticking it over a fire until it's starting to blacken. Anything more complicated than that and you're better off trying it yourself.

...so that food you planned on buying was going to be precooked, I hope. If not... I'll cook it for you, how about that?

I don't burn things all the hell, which makes me a chef by your standards. I like to cook, just don't get to that often anymore.

Hmm, this is significantly more complicated though. I shall have to figure out which ingredients to get.
