[When the communicator turns on, the first setting that it gets turned on to is just voice. A male voice can be heard, cursing softly.]

This shouldn’t be that hard to work. If that button does—ah, there we go.

[The voice setting is turned into video, and a young man with blond hair appears on screen.]

Well, looks like this thing is finally working. I was almost getting tempted to bash it against the wall, but the technology is too good to waste. Or was it the network? [Grins.] So, from the depths of despair we emerge, possibly victorious, possibly having made things worse.

[His grin slowly fades, and he grimaces as he looks down at his clothes.] And all this good leather wasted out in the rain... I was glad those others didn't offer their robes to the rest of us. Not something very leader-like, isn't it? More like a monk of some sort.

[He turns the camera, offering a shot of the rubble.] It's been a real joy and pleasure moving rocks, but after hearing about those airships and the bombings, I'd like to know more about those. If there's a way to fly, I want it, and I'd like it now.

I've heard that can be fairly painful, growing them for the first time.

Nothing so high comes so easy.

Unless you're not flying with wings, and in an airship. That's much easier to use.

Nowhere anyone goes on vacation, I'm guessing.

A true vacation deserves those little fruity drinks with umbrellas, miles of white sand, deep blue seas, and people in barely any clothing.

I'd settle for a scenic lack of death from above, at this point.

But then, I've always had low standards; I wouldn't know how to live with myself otherwise.

That's the one pleasure in this, I think. Meeting new people.

And such joyfully interesting ones at that. I'd be a little worried if I was stuck in a place with a bunch of boring muckety-mucks.

You can always find muckety-mucks if you're willing to look for them. I think that's a constant.

I'm not willing to look for them. I think I'll be a dull sort and stick with the interesting people.

A dangerous way to live.

I prefer a little dangerous. It makes life oh so interesting.

It's a shame that it's time ill-spent that crawls. It makes interesting lives short and boring lives long.

When it comes to stories, do you like to hear about those who've gone and lived their life until a ripe old age, but did nothing worth telling? Or someone who goes out in a blaze of glory, after being the one who did the most talking, the most hunting, the best fighting there ever was?

I'd rather go out in a blaze of glory, then die old.

Said like someone who's not very old.

Not even close to what possibly could be called old.

Well, I'd like to grow fonder of life the more that I live it.

Better move quickly then! You don't know what the next day will bring.
