[When the all clear goes up to return to the surface, the first thing Luffy does is look around to see if the food stores and restaurants are okay. Hey, he's got to make sure his food supply is still around. Some of the stores are all right, some aren't. He'll continue wandering around the city just to see how bad some of the conditions are, maybe dropping by the housing to see how his room is (that being his actual room, not the apartment he's staying with Ace in).]

[Later on, he finally turns on his notebook, fiddling with it until he assumes it's recording.] So, is it normal to have all that stuff around here? The bombs and the gas and those weird mask guys? 'Cause they sure seemed pissed at you guys.

Not right away, no. [well, he figures he better move, so this conversation actually looks like one, rather than calling back and forth down a hallway. sheepish all the way:] It's a long story, but...I did manage to help a little, I'd like to think. Maybe not as much as I could...but I'll do better next time. If there has to be one.

If you get stronger, then sure you can! So, you actually care about those Init-guys, then?

I– [huh? he has to stop at that, think about it.] I...Suppose I do. In a way. I must care about a lot of people in some way... [he blinks.]

[He smiles again.] Good! Having something to protect helps.

[He shakes his head.] I don't care for 'em. They should fight their own battles. Those mask guys picked a fight with me, so that's the only reason I fought back. Those Init-guys should fight themselves.

[the approval makes him smile, though not very certainly. it feels strange. there's a nervous kind of chuckle in his voice:] You mean the Initiative, right?

Yeah, them. I don't wanna fight for 'em.

I don't think many people want to... [he scratches at his elbow, feeling strange.] I'm not really sure what to make of it, even after all that time...
