[There is a moment- several, in fact, where Dexter contemplates his life; in this new place with this ... war, he can be someone different. He can chose to, if he wanted, be free from hiding who he is, embrace his specific skills. He could be useful in a completely different way. The moment passes. The truth, however, is that last six years of his life had been defining for Dexter. He is what he is by accident, but who he is? That's hard-earned and a bit more complicated.

Afternoon, fellow ex-pats. My name is Dexter Morgan and I am (was?) a blood spatter analyst for Miami Metro Police Department. I don't have many useful skills other than basic lab-geekery - I don't suppose that there's much call for a spatter analyst here?

Considering the lack of a proper legal infrastructure around here, we're poorly equipped to deal with any crimes that occur amongst the transported population.

It is. Frankly, I'm unsure how much longer we will last without any major incidents. There have been a lot of new transports lately, from a wide variety of different cultures. It's just asking for trouble.

I worked crime scenes for the police; usually domestic violence or other physical crimes that left blood evidence. Murders, which less rare than you might think, also fall under my scope of practice.

I have been asking our hosts the same about needing a club host, but I suppose there are some places where people of a less military bent can be useful.

Someone who serves drinks and conversation in a club. It is a Japanese thing mainly but I suppose the closest Westerners have would be an escort.

Nice to meet you, Dexter! I'm Collette. I'm pretty sure if you wanted to dive into getting the natives to work with you there's that, even if I don't know how often people get killed around here. It's not so much that police aren't a thing as it is we're Imports, so people don't always appreciate working with us. Especially since the Initiate thinks we should be working in the past.

How does one get into analyzing blood? Did you just wake up one morning, decide you wanted to have no friends ever?
