Laptops? Last I saw this was in a museum. Guess they're into the antiquities.

You never know, this thing could just combust on you when you’re asleep. Burn down the whole apartment structure and a block radius before someone even notices it. People don’t always wake up from excessive smoke inhalation. Sometimes the smoke gets to them first. But… there’s enough of us here that someone is bound to wake up before it gets out of control, right? People not comfortable living in these apartments, maybe? [Shrug, he really doesn’t seem all that bothered by this notion.]

Well, at least these laptops are free. And hey, getting paid to fight in a war? Not bad at all.

Not at all, what would be more comforting is a stranger rigging bombs and not telling anyone about it. He could get himself out there pretty fast before everything went off and no one would be the wiser. Could rig the whole block or more, given enough time. Might be the sweetest kid, too. A neighbor with a nice smile you never bothered to get to know. Acts all innocent, someone you can overlook. Now that is comfort.

...we got thrown into the past, so I guess what changed is the future if you want to look at it like that.

And they became ... happier? Wow. We have got to try that back home. What did you do to their past then, tickle their ancestors? I can't see killing them making their descendants too overjoyed... but you never know with some people.

The 'how' would be pretty useful, if you think about it.

Not if it's overcomplicated. Might be out of our grasp to figure or maybe everyone wouldn't agree with it. Sometimes it's just better not to know.
