[ Rather Late Evening Video / Action ]

[ OOC: Takes place a little bit after this thread ]

[ Excuse her network, for interrupting your late evening, and if the feed is a little shakey. She's fumbling a bit with it, but uh... Lucy isn't really in the best condition right now. She's out of breath, and her voice is strained, but serious. She actually drops the device once or twice before she manages to get it somewhat stable. ]

H-hey. There's... something at the beach - some weird..dangerous thing.
...agh be really..careful if you go there tomorrow; I -

[ Whoops, dropped the device. Dangit. Mind the sand, as Lucy carefully lowers herself to the ground to pick it up - and from that angle one can actually better see she's... kinda bloody. Mostly on her arms, but there's some scuff on her body and... and her right arm is kinda limp, her right hand twitching. ]

I chased it off but if it comes back...

[ Okay she's already at the end of her reserve energy, so she sort of stumbles, letting out a small yelp because broken arms aren't fun. ]

J..just be careful.

[ This time when she drops the device, she doesn't bother picking it up again. Because the feed ends. She'll still respond though, she's just hurting and tired and... for reasons she didn't go into, really really upset. Anyone who might come across her will probably see her sitting at the base of a tree, resting up the depleted energy because srsly guys she can't move. ]

[Natsu doesn't even bother with a reply. Replying will take time. His nose is faster anyway so he storms out of the encampment and immediately follows the sickening scent of blood that is mixed in with Lucy's own scent. But there's more. Another scent. One he doesn't recognize. Still he commits it to memory.]

LUCY!!!

[There she is, leaning against the same tree, battered and bleeding. Something about the way her arm is limp makes his stomach turn with outrage.]

[Still he quickly runs over and crouches down to her level. He's not sure what to do next. Does he move her or should he call for a stretcher or something?]

[ The second she hears Natsu's voice, she immediately looks up, almost wincing when she shifts her hand, which had been holding her head steady. And had been kinda crooked around her knees. She felt sick, to be honest - she could feel no pride at all that she chased off such a monster; Loke's key was still stolen! ]

Natsu..!

[ Don't look so worried, it's not that bad! A lot of the bleeding had stopped, and the arm.. uh. Well at least she still has it, right? Right? So she tries to smile reassuringly, almost an echo of her smile when Kain was trying to crush her head. ]

Sorry, I got a little careless.

[ Bravado because seriously it hurts like you wouldn't believe. ]

A little careless? Stop joking around!

[He isn't angry at her but at the whole situation. Goddammit not again. First Lestat and now this? Though something is different about it. She looks way more miserable.]

We need to get you to the others. Do you think you can hold on to me if I carry you on my back?

[Honestly he's probably going to do it regardless because they are wasting time and he can tell she is in immense pain. That smile he only saw once before. Also the time he started to realize how afraid he was of losing her.]

[ Whoops, poor timing on jokes again. Lucy grimaces slightly, her voice softening a little. ]

I... Sorry.

[ She glances away a bit, then turns back at the question, nodding more steadily, biting back a wince of pain as she shifts. ]

Yeah, I can do that.

[ Okay she can do this - it'll hurt, but she can manage. She's had worse. Moving her left hand, she starts to push herself up. And to think, just a few hours ago they were laughing and goofing off - and then this happens. ]

[Dammit what is he doing getting all huffy at her in this condition.]

No I am. Lets just get you someplace safe.

[All the while that sickening and wild smell is all over Lucy's body and the fire building within him is not one that will be easily snuffed out.]

Here let me help.

[He takes care to grab Lucy's good arm to help her to her feet before crouching low so she can climb up on his back.]

[ Well she understands why he's getting huffy. He's obviously worried, and considering she was still a little bloody and had a broken arm he had reason to be. And then there was Loke's key... ]

... Yeah, okay. Thank you.

[ Damnit, she needed to be a bit more upbeat, but she couldn't quite manage it. Still, with Natsu's assistance, she managed to get to her feet more easily. Once he was crouched down, she stepped forward to curl her good arm around him, as tightly as she could manage without accidentally choking him or something. The smell couldn't POSSIBLY be good for his heightened senses - bad enough he had to smell that blood, but that nasty, nasty THING too? ]

Ready..!

[ Okay that sounded a little more confident, bracing herself for the movement. ]

[He didn't know about the key yet. All he knew was the sickening smell of her attacker and her blood covered body. But he would never let that stop him. Not while she was in pain. And besides. he had the smell of the attacker. That meant he could hunt the bastard down.]

Okay here we go.

[His hands went under Lucy's bottom having no other intent other than supporting her so she wouldn't have to hold on too tightly to him. She had to be beyond drained mind and body.]

[ Oh but he'll learn. No question, even if she didn't tell anyone, she'd always tell him. Also, she's much too drained to even protest when he reaches behind to support her like...that. After all how else was he going to keep her from falling off or something, like if she passed out and let go? If she were less tired though she'd probably mentally spaz a bit. Right now she was just ... comforted that he was there. She's quiet once he starts out though, her grip on him easing a bit. ]

[ It may be a bit of a surprise though, when she suddenly chokes back a small sob. Not because he jarred her arm or anything though! It was just - now that she was safe and headed towards help, she could focus on the other little detail that was even more upsetting than a broken arm. ]

[He wished she was in the sate to freak out at him for his choice of carrying her. The lively happy noisy Lucy was Lucy at her best.]

[But then he can feel her body shaking with the sobs that reach his ear at the same time as the smell of tears.]

L-Lucy?! Lucy what's wrong? It's the pain isn't it? Don't worry we're almost there now.

[There was a still a way to go though but he wanted to support her as much as possible.]

It's not that...!

[ She lowers her head until her forehead rests against the back of his shoulder. ]

That's nothing...!

[ Not nothing, but the pain at losing her friend's key was far, FAR worse. ]

That thing...

[ She takes a breath to try and calm herself, to little to no avail. Her voice lowers a bit, upset and angry at the same time. ]

That thing stole Loke's key...!

[Hearing her say that was enough to bring Natsu to a full halt from shock. It stole one of her keys. One of her important friends...]

Lucy...Kh

[Without another word he stormed onwards again, a glare of pure determination all over his face. The bastard not only hurt Lucy but stole something so important from her. Oh they were going to pay. They were going to pay with interest and then some]

We'll get it back. Don't you worry.

[And by we he more or less means HE will get it back.]

[ SHe relaxes slightly, nodding against his back. ]

... Even though they can't use him against him, as long as we're contracted it... it's still terrible.

...that's how it hurt my arm. I was trying to grab my key back, but...

[He can only imagine how it must feel for her. The bond she has with her spirits was one of a kind. Precious and irreplaceable]

I get it. We'll get him back no matter what. So you just focus on healing up.

[THe hunt would start the moment she was in the hands of any of the healers that were on this trip.]

[ Yeah it... it doesn't feel good. At all. She exhales a heavy sigh, lest she get poor Natsu's clothes tearstained - bad enough it probably had a little blood on it now. She grimaces slightly, her position shifting a little, but she's not sliding or anything. She just turned her head a little, looking in the opposite direction, towards the guild mark. It almost pained her to look at it - that thin line of drying blood that crossed over the tattoo. Oh it just -burns her up- to think of Loke's key in someone else's hands. At least he couldn't be used, but still... ]

[ She shifts again, this time carefully leaning forward so she can look at Natsu - or at least the side of his face - better. ]

It hates the sun - and fire.

[ She knew that much. BOY did it hate Leo's Regulus attack. And she knows he's going to want to hunt that bastard down, so she wants him to have as much as an advantage as possible. ]

And it fights dirty; throws these... sharp needles that cut through.

[He could care less about his clothings getting tears and blood on them. Those were irrelevant to him as long as she was in this sorry state.. He doesn't lose his grip on her for a single moment though even as she adjusts herself]

Hates fire huh? Well isn't that a crying shame.

[He's going to shove so much fire into that bastard he'll have to BEG for mercy.]

Needles huh.

[Well that will be a thing to look out for. But he has its scent so any attempt to ambush him or hide will immediately fail. Now that he also has hints of its fighting style, Natsu was not going to take any chances. This bastard was going to be crushed by him and everyone else from the guild that would tag along. But given it hated fire, Natsu claimed priority on doing the most harm to the wretch.]

[ Yep. That thing was going to be so much burnt toast by the time Natsu got his hands on it. And then Erza would cut it into tiny cubes, and Juvia would drown it. Too bad Lucy wouldn't be there to see it. ...Dangit. It was just like her fight with Minerva. She'd held her own a lot better against that thing granted, but she was still open enough that it was able to grab one of her keys. What if it had grabbed all of them? ]

... Natsu.

[ She doesn't think he really has anything to worry about, from what she'd seen of the creature, but... it might still have some tricks up its sleeve she wasn't aware of. And she couldn't stand thinking that it would get the better of him - if such a thing was even possible. After all he was so strong, she sometimes forgot there could be people stronger than him - Erza notwithstanding, of course. ]

[Maybe someone will record it for her. He can take shifts with Erza doing so perhaps. Either way they were taking that key back whether by force or not.]

Mmmm? What is it Lucy?

[He way she said his name troubled him a bit. Like she was afraid he would fail. That he would be defeated by the likes of that freak. Preposterous but if that was really the case, he wanted to reassure her that it would not happen.]]

[ BRUTAL. She's quiet for a few minutes, It's always a possibility, almost unthinkable though it is, that any of them would fall in battle. And that was her greatest fear. Not her own injury or death - but losing any of her friends. Her left arm shifts a little, but it's only for a one armed hug. The best she can do, given the circumstances. ]

Just.... make sure you come back to me.

[ She feels almost silly even saying that - of course he would come back; there is no way he'd lose to that thing. None. But... if something -DID- go wrong...well. She'd never forgive herself if she didn't tell him -- to be careful, right? Why she feels kinda flustered saying that to him though - god knows. She'd said it to Loke, and it didn't have half the weight that those words felt to her. Weird. Well it was just because they'd been through so much, that's all. They had a lot of history together. ]

[Natsu pauses feeling her hand shakily trying to hug him. He frowns sadly before shifting a little free up one hand to gently hold her arm and tuck his mouth under it comfortingly.]

I promise. I'll be back and bring Loke back too.

[He knows he will but he does feel the need to make that promise. She's vulnerable now and given she is actually scared for him only makes him clench his teeth even harder. He hated seeing her like this and hated anyone who made her this way. History or something more? He didn't care either way. Someone hurt Lucy. That someone was going to wish they never crawled out of whatever hole they did this morning.]

[ Right. Right. Of course he will there's... he can't fall to something like that. Not if even she was able to chase it off, no way. But at the same time, she worries. Feeling his own means of comforting her at least helps her calm a bit more, enough that she lets out a quiet sigh, leaning her head against his back briefly. ]

You better.

[ There's a bit of a smile in her voice at least - she knows Natsu won't let her down. Lifting her head again, she's almost disappointed that they were nearly there - but it's not like she can take a whole lot of enjoyment out of this situation. Just the comfort. ]

There it is.

[ And they will have healers and blessed blessed drugs that will probably make her really loopy but she doesn't care. Just so long as it stops hurting. ]

[ ooc: ahaha i just realized something. When the parasite is tracked down, it's not going to have the key on it anymore - Catsovi will have it. Loke's key is going to have -catsovi's- scent on it too. If Natsu's met him ... ahahaha ohgod. ]

Who do you think I am?

[He states puffing his chest slightly in an attempt to goof off and raise her spirits. Still their journey comes to an end and he can already see people waiting for them after seeing that call and him storming out like he did.]

I wish Wendy was here...

[Not that he didn't trust the doctors of this place but he put way more value on his precious not!little sister's abilties as a fellow dragon Slayer.]

[He hasn't met Catsovi no. But if the parasite left any of its scent on Catsovi, it will end badly regardless.]

[ Lucy giggles at the familiar boasting from her friend. Who indeed? ]

THe strongest guy I know?

[ Well.. it's true. He is the strongest guy she knows. Just don't let that praise go to your head. ]

[ Her healing magic would have had Lucy's arm feeling fine a heckuva lot faster than the healers here probably would - plus she missed the little Dragonslayerette. ]

[Awww come on he can let it go just a little can't he?]

That too! I was gonna say "your partner, Natsu the great salamander of FAIRY TAIL!" But yours is better.

[He smiles thinly as they both admit to missing the little dragon Slayer. He follows one of the medical staff to a bed where he gingerly sets Lucy down on her back taking extra care with her arm.]

[ Oh all right, just a LITTLE. ]

The Great Salamander, huh?

[ Lucy makes a face, amused at that. ]

Course you do. I have a way with words, remember?

[ Once she's settled and the medical staff starts buzzing around them though, she is distracted from almost everything else- she has to focus on the instructions from the clinic doctors when they gently test her arm, eliciting winces of pain that she can't quite hold back this time. At least it's determined that the injury isn't too severe - no surgery would be needed or anything. Her arm would have to be put in a sling though. But she expected that much. ]

Yup.

[He grins cheekily glad to see some semblance of happiness back in Lucy's face.]

Oh I know that. I'm the one who said it after all.

[Still he watches the doctors work on her giving the diagnostic. He relieved the damage isn't as bad but now that Lucy is safe there is only one thought in his mind. Retribution. Still he doesn't leave right away and waits for Lucy to be given the all clear by the doctors.]
