[There’s a teenage girl seated at one of the many tables in the library, flicking absent-mindedly through a large brown textbook. Although the cover is faced down and the viewers can't see the title, a closer look at the shelves in the background will reveal that she is in the History section. When she speaks, she appears to be talking more to herself than to the network]

Oil deposits in 2015 AD… [She sighs and closes the book, placing on the table] That’s not too long after my timeline… [Even if this Earth is supposedly a different one from the one she came from, it’s still unnerving to read about. Finally, she turns her attention away from the book and glances directly at the camera of the tablet]

I was wondering…what kind of worlds were people pulled from? How many of you recognise names like “America”, “Germany” and “Japan”?

Not me. No Japan, no Germany, no America, no dating system which would make the date 2015 AD make any sense.

But I've been here long enough to pick up what those mean.

Aidan, and I guess I should elaborate.

Adapting to the people wasn't a big deal, I had more pressing concerns. I've got some physiological differences that made being here difficult. It's far colder than I'm used to and I'm photosynthetic, so the constant rain and cloud cover was a far bigger problem for me than any cultural mishaps.

[She blinks at the explanation. 'Photosynthetic'? That was a new idea. In humans anyway. But she's in a similar situation herself - a vampire with a limit supply of blood tablets]

Couldn't you just eat more...?

[It' probably different in his, but that's how animals in her world get their nutrients...]

Probably not. I eat very sparingly, mainly for nutrients. Regardless, my roommate solved the problem for me my first day here by making me sunlamps.

But without that help, I would have had a lot more trouble. Especially since I was at risk of hypothermia.

I don't think you'd want to. They can get upwards of 200 degrees. That's super hot even for me.

I'd think so. My world rarely got that hot, and my world is considerably hotter than here.

Eating is how humans and animals get their nutrients generally...photosynthesis wouldn't be efficient enough.

Oh, I don't get nutrients from photosynthesis, only calories. I eat and drink for nutrients and hydration.
