[ TEXT&VIDEO ]

[ Initially, Rika was surprised to receive a tablet. It was even more surprising to her when she opened it up to see a keyboard and several options on the screen. She was never really technology savvy, especially since she came from a rural village like Hinamizawa. Typing was never taught in her classes, but she managed to type out a message in text! All with one finger. It took her awhile, but the hard work paid off. ]

hello. my name is furude rika. i am from hinamizawa village located in shishibone city in japan. i am looking for some friends of mine.

[ Typing with one finger is taking far too long for her. It takes her a few minutes, but suddenly she switches the post to video (after submitting part of her text message.) A small girl with long blue hair, about nine or ten, turns up on screen. She sighs, scratching her head for a moment and seeming a little frustrated having to work with the tablet. ]

Their names are Satoko, Keiichi, Mion, Shion, and Rena. If anyone has run into anyone that goes by those names, please let me know.

[ There's an awkward pause. She doesn't know what else she should say or ask for. Finding her friends is all she can think about. Before long, she bows her head. ]

...thank you.

[ ACTION ]

[ Rika is running around the city, desperately calling out for somebody. She's wearing a large jacket over the simple dress she arrived in. It's a little big for her, like she just bought it without too much thought. ]

Hanyuu...! Hanyuuuuu...! Where are you?!

[ Strangely, "Hanyuu" wasn't listed amongst the people in her video post. Rika thought it would be strange for her to mention the name of ~~her not-so-imaginary friend~~ someone she can only see.

If you suddenly meet eye contact with her or if she notices you staring, she'll suddenly fall quiet, embarrassed, and briskly start trying to walk the opposite direction. ]

[ ooc: Feel free to respond to her in video or run into her around the city. Roommates, feel free to start an action post in their room. ]

[ That yelling is hard to miss, even for someone with other things on their mind. Sayaka's taking a break from training to grab something to eat when she spots (hears, really) Rika, and she blinks. ]

Hanyuu...? [ It's not like she's much older, but the idea of just letting this kid run around alone doesn't sit right with Sayaka - not bothering to change out of her magical girl outfit, she runs after her. ] Hey, wait up!

[ Hearing a voice call for her, Rika clumsily slows down to a stop. At least, she's glad she no longer had the red in her eyes when she first arrived. She'd feel stupider if someone had caught her crying.

She turns to glance back at Sayaka, wearing a listless frown. If she were in a better mood, she might have tried faking a smile. And ask if that magical girl outfit was some kind of cosplay. With all the different people here though, it's not that surprising anymore. ]

...What is it?

[ Oh, this kid is intense. Sayaka hesitates, not really sure if interrupting was the best idea after all - it's too late to take it back now, though, and helping out is definitely the heroic thing to do here. ]

Its nothing bad! I just heard you yelling. [ She laughs; it's a little awkward, but obviously meant to be reassuring. ] Is Hanyuu a friend of yours? I can help you look, if you want.

...

[ Rika could use a hero! Have some intense line facing though. That reassuring laugh is not going to make her budge a smile. Too late for her to lie and cover up she was calling for someone named "Hanyuu". ]

Yes, she is my friend. [ And relative. ] You won't be able to see her, if you tried.

[ Hear her, maybe... but that's normally during high levels of paranoia. She's aware that her words might sound really strange, but she doesn't seem to care much right now! ]

[ If only you'd met her at an earlier canonpoint, Rika. ]

I wouldn't? Geez, she must be really shy or something... [ Sayaka being shy doesn't make people impossible to see... but she shrugs. ] Well, that's okay. If you're looking for someone, then you're new here, right? I can at least show you around.

[ ...Yeah, sure, Sayaka. Rika isn't going to bother giving an explanation. Though if Hanyuu had a corporeal form, she would imagine she'd be pretty shy. ~~In a later canon point, Rika!!~~ ]

Mii. That's right. I've arrived recently. How long have you been here?

... About four months, I think. [ Her expression darkens for just a moment - when it passes, she laughs again, but it's a lot more forced this time. ] It sounds like a long time when you put it like that, huh? Ahaha...

[ Yeah, she's just going to try and move on from that as quickly as possible. She blinks, trying to shrug off the mood. ]

Anyway, some people have been here for a lot longer than I have. I can try and answer things, but you might be better off asking them.

...

[ Good thing she's not going to make further comment on that. Four months, though... Rika wonders if she'll be stuck here for the same amount of time. It's not much compared to the years she had to wait for a little miracle, but she's not sure if she can comfortably sit around in a place for a few months without her friends. ]

Has anyone been able to return home? Can you answer that?

People have, but it's not by choice.

[ She should know, she tried for a while too. A few weeks ago she wouldn't have had anything to add to this, but now that Kyouko and Homura have shown back up... ]

A lot of them stay gone, but one of my [ she hesitates just a moment ] friends came back after a while. The same thing happened to somebody else, except she didn't remember being here before. [ MINOR ANNOYANCE THERE. ]

...It's not the person's choice, but the Initiative's choice. Is that correct?

[ Frowning, she might be able to understand that annoyance. It's like when Keiichi and the others were incapable of clearly recalling events from past worlds... ]

Do you know why some people forget this world?

Yeah, that's right.

[ Which is wrong, but what can you do. The second question catches her off guard - she blinks, glancing away for a moment. ]

... I'm not sure. The girl who forgot - I don't really talk to her, so... [ SIGH. Another reminder that she's supposed to be making an effort, but she still can't bring herself to talk civilly with Homura. ] There doesn't seem to be any kinda pattern.

[ She drops her gaze back to the ground again, a grim expression returning to her face. She was hoping to identify some kind of pattern or "rules" to their current world. ]

So, it's completely random. Any of us could return to our world at any moment...

[ That may be great to return for some people, but Rika's not looking forward to facing her fate again. ]

[ Damn, she's not trying to be a downer here (even if that kind of comes naturally). Sayaka why do you bring these things up. ]

It looks that way. [ She frowns. ] But they need us to help out, right? It make sense they'd want to keep us here.

[ Can't fight a war without their ragtag army of transports! ]

[ Rika always considered herself to be a hundred-year-old witch, but at the same time... she's still a little girl. She heard about the missions and she was given a weapon of her own. But she's extremely lacking in fighting skills and physical strength.

The longest she stood in a fight was against Rena and that only lasted for about one minute. Bah, looks like she can't relax in this world either. ]

Mii... I heard about the missions. I don't know what I can do for them. Will the weapon they gave me really be able to help me?

That depends. Most people just fight, but they say there's other things you can do, too. [ Not that she has much of an idea, because fighting's all she's good at. ] What kind of weapon did you pick?

What else is there to do? [ And she'll ask about it anyway. ] ...The weapon I picked was the ceremonial plow from my home. It's the one I'm most familiar with.

Well... some people try to organize stuff. There's a clinic, and people were helping out with other things on our last mission.

[ Someone's gotta cook, and it ain't going to be Sayaka. She blinks at the mention of the plow, and looks at Rika again in surprise. ]

A plow's kinda a weird weapon. Are you really gonna be able to use something like that?

[ She had a feeling mentioning a plow would sound kind of weird! It wasn't the kind of plow for farming though. It was once used as a torture instrument up until the end of the Meiji era... but Rika doesn't need to tell Sayaka about Hinamizawa's dark history! ]

Mii. I've practiced with it before for a festival dance. It's as heavy as a mochi hammer...

[ And tough for someone as tiny as her to carry for long periods of time. ]

[ Man Rika she is judging you hard right now, even without knowing the horrible history behind it. Why choose something so unwieldy? ]

Geez, that's gonna be troublesome... But I guess there's no point complaining about it now. [ Sure, they can swap their weapons, but there's obviously a reason behind her choice. ] You'll just have to train with it if you wanna get better.

[ Wow just you wait until you actually see her plow Sayaka! Rika just frowns. ]

...mii. I've never been much of a fighter.

[ Sure, she fought Rena with a mop at one point, but that lasted for about a minute. Then there was Shion... that didn't go too well either. ]

You gotta train a bit, at least. They'll tell you to go twice a week. [ She shrugs, and looks mildly sympathetic. ] It's okay if you don't want to fight, though. There's enough of us that can to protect everyone else.

Training? [ Rika slumps her shoulders. Why should she fight for a world that isn't her own? ] ...I don't feel like doing anything.

[ Oh, that look. Sayaka knows that look way too well. She frowns, hesitating for a moment, before giving Rika a friendly pat on the back with a gloved hand. ]

Don't worry about it. We'll look for your friend first. [ That might make things a little easier, if nothing else. ] Anyway, I'm Sayaka. It's not the best situation, but I'll help out if I can.

I'm Rika. Furude Rika. [ Too bad she already thinks it's hopeless to search for Hanyuu. She should at least thank Sayaka though. ]

...Thank you for the information, Sayaka.

Hey, you don't have to thank me. It's not like this stuff's a big secret or anything.

[ She kind of likes it, though - it makes her feel useful, and she's been lacking in that lately. But Rika's not getting off that easy. ]

Have you been to the apartment building yet? Even if she isn't there, someone else might know about her.
