That's understandable. I just arrived recently too. This place doesn't make a lot of sense.

[She watches him closely, however, both worried and curious.]

You didn't sound so well, though. Are you sick?

Ah, a fellow new recruit. I am Thane.

[His shakes his head.] I have a condition known as Kepral's Syndrome, for which I was hospitalized for. I'm afraid it is terminal and there is little that can be done. It is curious that they would take me, I am not sure a dying man will be of use to them.

I'm so sorry. Maybe, with the...technology that's here [she's not used to all of it] there could be some sort of treatment for you.

[And his tone softens just a little.] Your concern is touching, but I have accepted death. I merely hope I shall not be a burden to those I know here. [And he pauses.] Have you met others you have known? I am not certain this is a common occurrence.

That's brave of you, but I don't think you would really be a burden. If your companions are here, I know they'd want to be by your side. [She shakes her head.] I think I'm alone here. I haven't met anyone from my world yet...but I'm still looking.
