And as for language, I'm speaking the common tongue. [ frown! ] As are you.

Er-- no. I'm speaking English-- and we don't have anything called common tongue where I'm from, we're not from some fantasy novel. So-- okay, let's do it like this. What other kinds of languages are there in your world?

English... [ such a bewildered frown!! ]

I'm afraid you're asking the wrong man; I'm no sage, and my studies are limited to the holy.

[constantsarcasm]

[ with exaggerated patience: ] I know of the Eastern languages, those of Kunlun and Louyang, and I know the tribes of Umbala have a language of their own that very few outside speak. Most of Rune-Midgard shares a language, but there are exceptions.

I hope I have sated your curiosity, but I must reiterate that I am no sage.

[constantsarcasm]

Yeah, no, haven't heard any-- but whatever! We might be from-- oh! What year are you from? And country, how about that, let's try that.

I sincerely doubt we will find very many commonalities past our seemingly shared language.

You never know! Never know til you ask, right? Anyway, even if we don't, I'd like to know. I've never met someone who wasn't from 2012 California.

Well, now you've met a man from Morroc, and most recently of Prontera.

California, is that your city?

State. Beacon Hills is the city. Town, really, we're not quite big enough to be a town. Is Prontera your city?

State. [ SQUINT. ] I'm unfamilar with the term in that context. But yes, Prontera is my city. The largest in the land, called Rune-Midgard.

[constantsarcasm]

State. It's like-- well, it's like a . . . a boundary set inside a country. So we're all part of the same country, but different states means you're from different parts of it. Does that make any sense?
