019 ♓ video

[ Feferi is just so excited to be on camera today, just so excited. Anyone who's been there might recognize the background as DITR's makeshift office. She needed somewhere to prop her tablet up, as both her hands are holding a binder, face down at the moment. ]

While everyone is talking about laws and councils and punishments and all that, I have been thinking about something else: we don't have any really good way of sharing information we find on missions! There is the network, yes, but who wants to go back through every single network post to find out what happened? Plus, if someone withholds information, it's really hard to blame them, since there's no good way to share it.

So the idea I had was this!

[ She holds up the binder. In glittery sparkle pen, the cover reads MISSION LOG and she flips it open to show off the inside. ]

A mission log book! This is just one way to do it, I'm not good with computers or anything so this was easier for me, but the idea is that when you leave for a mission, you fill out the top part, right? And then when you get back, you fill out the bottom, and then you sign it! Not that hard, right? For missions with lots of people, you could either have one person fill it out, or everyone adds their own information, and then everyone signs it.

[ She holds the current page up a little closer to the camera to show off the meticulously-written and lined form she made up. ]

By doing this, everyone can go see what you did and what you found out, whenever they want! And then if anyone ever says you didn't share information, you have the book to go back to. And if you don't fill it out, and we find out you held back something important, then we have proof!

Now I know what you are going to say. But Feferi, I'm going on a personal mission, I would like some privacy please! I already thought of that, though. As long as you are not doing something sneaky or underhanded, you don't have to put any personal details. Just that you left, came back, and didn't bring back anything that the community should know about. That's it!

This is just for things that everyone should know, like when you find mutant clones, or try to stop global warming.

[ Finally, she puts down the binder. ]

So that's my idea, but I want to see what people think, or if there's a better idea out there, because this is the best one I could come up with!

[okay this is good in theory, and she likes Feferi, but:]

what happens if the UE get their hands on that?

like we keep ourselves safe from them?

[oh wait no people got kidnapped or hacked or all sorts of delightful things]

as soon as information is made publically available it's vulnerable to being discovered by the united earth

and it's vulnerable to anyone amongst us who might disagree with what's being done, especially when the morality of our missions comes into question

Be responsible for it, I mean. Things like making sure it has enough pages, double-check that the missions did happen.

[Her initial response is "why not?" because she trusts about 10% of the Transport population and thinks the rest of them should just sit down and shut up.

But that's a bit rude.]

i don't see why we need something publically available at all. the people who are planning to run missions just need to find a way to coordinate with each other

if you're talking supplies, a list for that already exists

and why do they deserve to know?

but why?

why does everyone need to know? maybe the people keeping things secret are doing it for a reason

have you looked around lately?

do you think any of these people should be trusted with important information?

i wouldn't send them on missions at all, but i'm not queen of the transporter so i don't really have a say

we need a war council

[more than they need a government, in her opinion]

someone already brought it up in ashraf's post

[Which she read, even if she didn't participate.]

the problem is i wouldn't want it to be vote based and i have a feeling most people would take issue with that

guess so. i've got another post i need to make so maybe i can include that

people who are actually qualified. but that'd probably just end up with a bunch of transports squabbling for power so i dunno if there is actually a solution.

[Sounds like a good idea. She did just grill Oz on his mission details afterall--there's definitely some curiosity here.]

Where are you going to store the book? It's gotta be kept somewhere everyone can access it, right?
