I only see nothing inherently special about birthdays. Or at least, not to the degree that some others do. Unless one makes a large event out of it, the day will pass just like any other.

Cake, presents, family and friends. Some people go out to celebrate. Depends on how high-maintenance you are.

I see. My own family has a few members who are overly invested in celebrations as well.
