[ When the video comes on, it's a little close to Edmund's face so everyone is getting a good shot of how some nice brown eyes. He shakes it a bit, not sure it's even working properly. Technology. Pah. ]

Er - right - this thing on? Dunno if I'll ever get used to these ruddy things...

[ He pulls it back so his face is more properly in focus and it seems like he's reading through how to work it one more time just to be sure. ]

Well, it should be. Guess we'll find out.

[ He looks back into the camera and offers a small smile. ]

I had a question. I'm not sure if it's been asked before, though I tried my best to look through archives to see, and I think I got pretty far back in it before I got bored and gave up. So sorry if this is a repeat of something you've all answered before, but -

How many people here have experience with world traveling before coming here? And if so, was it like what I've been told here, where you went back to the exact same time you were taken from without it seeming like any time had passed at all? Or did your world keep on moving while you explored another?

... Just curious. No one's forced to answer of course, but it'd be interesting to know.

[ There's another pause before he smiles a little. ] And on an unrelated note - is anyone here any good at chess?

I will admit, it has been some time since I have last played chess myself.

I'm the inquisitive sort, I suppose.

[ He tries to not look too hopeful, but man he misses that game, a potential challenger is something to be excited for. ]

Any interest in trying your hand at it again?

I'm shit at it, but I can play. I think. As for travellin'--

[A beat. He exhales slowly.]

I don't . . . know. I've never gone back. But . . . I've known three worlds, includin' this, and apparently I've been to a fourth, but I don't . . . remember it. That don't help much, but. There you go.

A little practice might make you a little better.

[ His eyes widen a bit at that because... holy cow, man. ]

Three? You've got even more experience under your belt than I do, then. Were they all similar to one another or vastly different places?

Yeah. Real different. No real . . . the first was New York City, me home. The second was a, a-- a laboratory. Science and experiments, that sorta stuff. And the third was here, a time-travellin' revolution.

I done it before. Nothing changed while I was gone, and when I got back to my world, I thought the other place was all a dream. Hell, even when I got here, I didn't figure out that other place was real 'til other people who were there too started showing up and jogged my memory a little.

One time I was thrown into the future and came back a few minutes before I left. And the other time, I was thrown into the past and my husband had enough time to kick some ass and take some names while being the pacifist he is.

[ and she smiles because, d'aw, leo is so hot when he's being a badass. ]

Let me guess - this doesn't answer your question.

[ He frowns some at the second, because that... sounds terribly unpleasant, especially given the way he stuttered over it. ]

Those are definitely drastic changes. Well - not that I've ever been to New York to know how drastic, but still.

And you remember all but the one clearly?

[ A dream. He remembers Susan acting like that's all that Narnia was to her at times. It still seems weird to him to forget everything about a place, or even only remembering it as something vague and weird that your mind created on its own. ]

What sort of world was it? If you don't mind me asking.

[ He smiles a little, shaking his head. ]

I think it answers it just fine. Seems like you're rather used to time travel, then, at the least.

[He says "dream". What he really means is "post-traumatic and/or drug-induced hallucination". But he's talking to a kid.]

Not all that different from where I came from. A couple years into the future from me, and I landed in Canada when I shoulda been in Mexico. Mostly the difference is there was magic there. Superpowers. They don't got that where I come from. Otherwise, it was just a city we couldn't leave.

[ Always being mistaken for a kid :( Womp. ]

It's interesting how some people seem to find worlds so similar to their own and others ones vastly different. I wonder what motivations there are in how each person is chosen.

I know how the Transporter chooses. They told us. Said they programmed it to find "heroes".

Assuming they told you the truth, at least.

Why would they lie about that? Heroes is what they need. They coulda just said, "We got no idea how you got here," if they wanted to lie. Now, you could say the Transporter's messed up to shit if it thinks some of them people it pulls are heroes, but that's a whole 'nother thing.

If it's pulling people at random, telling them they're looking for heroes is a great way to inflate the ego and talk people into fighting for them, and also gives them an air of control and confidence that "We have no idea how you got here" tends to lack.

[Embarrassingly, this is the second time Jesse's fallen for that trick. Give him a moment.]

I do believe them, but it's always good to be skeptical.

A fourth, yeah, that's the one I don't remember clearly. But the rest-- New York and the lab-- I do. Why d'ya ask?

[ She tilts her head curiously after relief has passed her features. ]

I had been wondering about you Edmund. It's been some time. Are you alright?

And to answer your question, I've been to other dimensions before, but unwillingly. [ Like this one... ]

What about you? Any experience?

I have traveled through time. It wasn't a pleasant experience.

[Technically she died like three times doing it. They just went back and grabbed her again.]

Aside from that, the other worlds I have visited have all been in the...planetary sense. In my reality, humans are capable of interstellar travel.

[Which is interesting in itself for her, but not what you meant to ask about.]

[ He smiles a little apologetically, rubbing the back of his neck. ]

Sorry. I've got a bad habit of keeping to myself too much - or that's what Susan usually tells me. I'm just fine, though. Really.

Seems like that's a pretty common trait with dimension hopping around here.

A bit, yeah. I've been to one other world besides this one. Not counting my original home.

Really? That's amazing! Highest anyone ever gets in the sky where I'm from is on a plane, and that definitely doesn't take you to other planets.

I'm sure no one's going to get too worked up over the ramblings of some teenager.

I've just been wondering if there are any sorts of constants in this world traveling thing. I didn't forget anything from the last world I was in, even when I returned to England - it's weird to think of people forgetting places they've been.

I'm not sure how time works in other worlds. I spent fifteen years in one dimension -- the past -- but when we returned to our present we were returned to normal.

It worked pretty much the same for me. And if what I'm told is right, it should work at least somewhat similarly when we're returned home from this place, right? At least, I think that's what people told me when I first arrived.

Okay, details.

Well, uh - I was born in England. Finchley, to be exact. I spent most of my childhood there, but when the war hit, we were sent outside the city to live with a family friend. He had this wardrobe, and my siblings and I were hiding in it at one point so we didn't get in trouble with this really strict maid that lived in the manor, and we sort of... fell through the back.

It was a magical gateway between our world and a place called Narnia. That world was much more appealing, let me tell you. Like something out of a fantasy novel. There were mountains and lakes and beaches, huge valleys covered with flower and the most beautiful forests I've ever seen in my life. There were all sorts of magical creatures there, too, like elves and centaurs and dwarves and such.

I stayed there for fifteen years, but eventually we accidentally stumbled on the back of the wardrobe again. We fell back through and when we returned to Finchley, I was a kid again and it was like no time had passed at all.

... Never did get in trouble with the maid.

Everybody here's thirsty for a reason to rise up. I can't even count how many half-assed rebellions I seen here.

You'd think people would have enough of fighting with the circumstances that are thrust onto us.

Nah. People love fighting. They just wanna believe it was their idea first.
