I do have a question however.

I'm just wondering, what is it that humans and other organics do for fun? Or at least to occupy your time?

Nope! That's my name. Has been for a long time.

Oh. [okay. he's not going to question it.] So - what do you do?

What do I do? Well, I mean... that's kind of a broad question. For a job, you mean?

Yeah. [sure.]

Well, here I teach self defense and swordplay. Back home I was um. A soldier. I guess. Kind of.

[perdre]

Oh. [beat.] It's the first time I've met a soldier.

[weapabilities]

Really? You're lucky then. Most of us aren't so pleasant.

I'm sure it's not that bad. [or is he!!]

Heh, you'd be surprised. Fighting for millions of years will make anyone unpleasant.

Hopefully that won't be the case here.

Do you consider yourself a soldier here as well?

Yes. Then again, a part of me always will be, I think.

[Peter's thoughts drift a little. He figures this would be a good approach for an interview, if he was given the chance to conduct one. But that doesn't seem like it will happen here.]

I think they're expecting most of us to be soldiers in some way.

[ Drift doesn't mind entertaining some questions every now and then, but you have to catch him in a good mood. ]

Which is wrong. A lot of the people here are children. Nobody should have to fight a war that isn't theirs. Especially someone so young.

No, they shouldn't. I mean, if they just - had a better way to find people. Even just ask them if they'd fight.

I'm sure there would be plenty of volunteers. There's always someone looking for a fight, but this? This is wrong.

It is. Yet somehow it's like... the lesser of two evils.
