Least it's not a stupid question - enemy territory means radio silence. But they don't have any telepaths, as far as I've been able to tell.

And definitely hinders the whole secret identity thing once they hear the scarab's creepy little voice nattering away in his head, but somehow, this guy doesn't seem to be the type to blab.] Well, that's handy.

Can be. If your psi goes down, though, you're stranded. And it's kind of a pain to keep a network linked up in a fight.

D'you mind me asking if it goes down often? I always thought it was as natural as breathing for people who've got it.

Ah - 'psi' can be a person with psionic powers, too. So if the one on your team gets taken out, you don't have a link any more.

But psi powers can drop out sometimes, yeah. Most have a range, for one, and there are ways of setting up blocking fields. Too much strain can make powers go uncontrolled, too.

I've never even heard the word 'psionic' before. But the rest of it makes sense.

Nah, we've got a whole league of metas - and then some.

Huh. And no psis? I know it's not the most common mutation, but it's not exactly a rare power, either. [Mmm, the confusions of cross-universe terminology]

We probably do. We've got people with powers that I wouldn't ever be able to make up. [Like Scour. Whose sweat into acid.

But Jaime wears a suit made of his own body waste on a daily basis, so he's really not one to talk when it comes to having frankly disgusting powers.]

So either we've got different names for it, or it's just one I haven't heard of before. I've heard about people with powers on the news a lot more than I've actually gotten to meet them.

Probably terminology, then. Psis are people with telepathic, empathic, or telekinetic gifts - though some people would probably include things like psychometry under that label, or other forms of mental powers.

Yeah, it's all terminology. Those, we've got.

Yeah. In my world, psychic gifts are also called psionic gifts. People with them are psis. It's not quite as common as, say, super-human strength, but more common than some mutant gifts I've seen.

I think it is where I'm from too, but we might just hear about them a little more often than the other powers. I don't think we exactly have a directory or anything. Either way, it sounds like our worlds have some similarities.

There are records of known mutant powers, though you can't make something like that totally comprehensive, obviously. But I can name three psis I'm not related to off-hand - but only one person who can phase through solid materials.

So you guys have meta communities too? Or are you guys common enough that it's easy to just meet each other.

Us mutants tend to congregate - safety in numbers. Other supers spread out a bit more, I think.

Yeah, I get that. Your world sounds pretty close to mine, honestly.

Huh. Same timestream, maybe, with a farther back point of divergence than I usually deal with.
