Being human for that long was...let's go with "a learning experience."

However everything seems to have been returned to normal, and no lasting harm has been done. Being able to fly again puts me in a good enough that I think I shall share with you now the results of some research I have been working on for a while now with Crucible. Behold!

[The dragon gestured dramatically, finishing a ritual he had stopped just short of completion before starting the video. The camera panned up to show the ever present rainclouds.

For a minute, it wasn't clear what was happening, just the normal gray skies. Eventually, however, it became clear that the clouds were brightening. Both in the video AND in real life outside of your window. After another few minutes, Exsilium was treated so something that it hadn't seen in a long time: Natural sunlight. Clouds all over the city are starting to break up, drenching exsilium in the watery sunlight of late winter that was till brighter than anything they normally got. The wet earth glinted, and eventually started lightly steaming as it heated up.]

Naturally it won't last forever, an hour or two on the outside, but it is a nice change from the normal gloom, isn't it? For appropriate compensation, I might be convinced to repeat this trick again in the future on request.

Simply put, I am more than happy to give sunshine and warmth to my fellow transports, but doing so represents a non-negligible amount of effort on my part. A certain amount of compensation for my efforts does not seem unreasonable to me.

Somehow I was expecting you to say something more like, "of course a dragon would able to do something like this!"

All dragons CAN do things like this. Most do not bother to learn, finding the massive strength, flying, and fire breath to be enough.

No, I definitely agree with that. I didn't realize that it was actually that hard, but with a lot of things working against you, I could see how it might be a bit difficult. What kind of compensation did you have in mind, out of curiosity?

Yes, it is. There's something to be said, however, for solving problems by ways other than brute force.

It's true, I'll have to set my standards pretty low compared to what I would normally like. A fee of Exsilium marques will probably suffice in most cases.

As I should've expected from a real dragon! I've never seen magic performed like that before.

( at least not - magic, as such, though he's seen plenty of supernatural abilities in action. )

I should hope not. I couldn't expect to charge a large fee for repeating this trick on request at scheduled times if it were common place.

Ideally gold and jewels, but given that not many people here have access to such things, I shall tentatively settle for a rate of 100 marques for a full day of gorgeous, sunny weather.

That sounds reasonable to me! Maybe I'll take you up on that, Mr Dragon - though, I agree that it'd be preferable to be able to give you real treasure.

Are there royal dragons where you come from?

No. A dragon's prestige is measured not by his ancestors, but by his power, age, and wealth. We don't really even have a government, but a loose feudal arrangement of weaker dragons generally listening to stronger dragons has stopped us from constantly fighting over territorial rights.

One bends with the times. I could go on an angry rampage and burn down some villages, but it wouldn't get me very much treasure and would probably lead to knights in shining armor riding up to my lair, which nobody wants.
