Third Mercy

[ The disgruntled expression on Shinji's face is basically his default expression as long as Aurican is inhabiting his body. ]

I am not sure how humans managed to survive. I always assumed human senses were almost the same as dragon senses until now. Eyesight makes the darkness at night even more forbidding, if that's even possible. I am still learning how to walk, and I am just not going to bother learning how to run.

Possibly the only advantage humans have with dragon senses is the sense of touch. Though I suppose that shouldn't be surprising, considering the lack of scales. The hands make things much easier to hold on to.

Are there any non-humans in human forms? How do you learn to adapt?

And when does a dragon need to know about books when stuck inside the grotto all his life? Kang is teaching me anyway, but in the meantime I prefer seeing someone or hearing their voice along when on this thing.

Is he a recent arrival?

I feel vulnerable by my own ineptitude, that's what.

I was nearly hit by one of those quick-moving cars. Several times, in fact.

[ While the appearance of a gold dragon wyrmling is not unfamiliar to Aurican, there is still an alien quality to seeing his own visage, with tiny horns and a slanted jaw, teeth barely appearing while in speech but ever present, with a body that looks like it's been carved out of gold, including the eyes.

It's strange to look at himself from the outside. In human eyes he looks even a little intimidating.

The expression on his face is now a combination of uncertainty and a little bit of awe as well. ]

Are you well?

[ Because when a particular organization does fix this body problem up, poor Shinji will find himself having to deal with a fair amount of bruises and scraped skin of a four-legged creature learning how to balance on two legs. ]

[According to all his definitions of well, Shinji most certainly is not.]

It's... [Been a mixture of terrifying, confusing, and awkward. He hunches down, looking exasperated.]

I'm a dragon. [That's all that needs to be said.]

I'm afraid I have injured your body. I keep on falling down. [ Among other things. ] But it's nothing life-threatening, at least. Have you been having any trouble with my body as well?

I'm still learning! It's so hard to walk.

[Aurican isn't the only one who's finding two legs very daunting. Himeno has managed to bruise and scrape up the body she's in, and the tone of her voice certainly doesn't fit the way the boy looks onscreen.]

I haven't noticed many differences in senses though...

Aurican? I have been looking for you.

[The woman who appears on the video appears somewhat relieved.]

Though it may not look it, I am Crucible, though this is not my form. I would however offer assistance on your issue of balance and adapting to a human form for a time being.

The first time taking on a human form can be quite awkward at first.

Touch is one of the best senses! How is it dragons normally feel?

You could say that. He arrived around the same time I did, last month.

Oh, no. I think that humans are very different from dragons.

This is not usually the body I inhabit, but I can't say that it would be called "human"...
