I've questions. For those who've been here longer than I. [ he shifts, a subtle frown over his otherwise unreadably solemn expression; his tone is level and steeled, albeit sharp. ] What does this - Initiative expect us to do?

Fight their battles? I do not know what manner of magic - [ there's a twist to his lip that can only mark disgust. ] - they posses that was used to trap us here but -

They cannot win this war of their on their own without forcefully involving others. Yet some of you are quick enough to trust them, to think they will send us all back. Why? [ He sighs, bright olive eyes narrow, harden. ] They seek nothing but power to further their own gains. A situation I have seen far too often where I am from.

What have they made all of you do in your time here, I wonder?

[ There is a pause, then. A break. If he knew how to make a filter - if he knew what that was- he'd be making it right now.

A new expression passes his brows now - reminiscent of pain, though it appears as a flinch. his hand curls into a fist on the table he is sitting at. ] Hawke. I need to speak with you.

[ because pride stops him from openly asking for help he secretly may need. ]

[ He doesn't even need to hear it to know that it's there; he's a way of sensing these things, sensing hatred, malevolence, and everything associated with it. So he can only smile, unseen, behind the safety of the tablet, wondering just how he can use this particular tool. ]

A wise outlook, but there's no need to be hasty. You never know who might be listening in.

Why should we help them fight?

[ brows draw together. ] No, I don't think this is better.

They need power. Even you cannot be so naive as to think we are anything more than tools to them. Slaves. A means to an end, and nothing more.

[ He'll just have to be particularly careful about letting that tool bit slip, then. ]

Take a breath. Collect yourself. Then proceed with caution. That is the approach that is best, from any standpoint.

Where I am from, magic and 'science' are all too intimately linked.

And where I'm from magic and tech are totally opposite. For the longest time any tech back home I got my hands up used to blow up in my face because of magical interference.

But not... all magic is like that! [she leans into the feed to offer him a kind smile] If used correctly, it can heal & make others happy.

It all depends on who you talk to. In this world there's not really any sort of magic that's -- let say native -- but there's plenty of other people here who say that it's important to their home.

[ Sadly, trust is something Fenris has nearly run dry on. Perhaps it is due to thinking that he is infact, alone (despite having a very small number of those he does have trust in). It would take far more than simply showing your face though.

The elf is eyeing the man through the screen, warily. Though the wariness turns to something more of a bristle as the other proceeds. ]

[ And implying the use of magic? Trust would be doubly as hard to gain, unfortunately.

If this dragon wants him as a tool, this will not be an easy effort. ]

[ No easy task, to be certain, but Fenris' response to his subtle reveal tells him enough. Not all reacted the same way to magic users here, as he'd come to learn, and better to know who your friends were first and identify your foes all the faster.

Not that anyone or anything posed much of a threat to the aspect of Death, but it never hurt to exercise caution. As he'd said. ]

Why does anyone use magic? That is a question we could spend all day discussing.
