To top it all off, he created the first two humans to live there, Adam and Eve. They were allowed to live there, free of want and desire, so long as they do not eat the fruit from a certain tree, the tree of Knowledge of good and evil.
They were content to live like that, until a snake approached Eve, and tempted her to eat the fruit of Knowledge. She resisted, but eventually gave in to curiosity, and not only ate it herself, but had Adam eat it, as well. They gained the knowledge of good and evil, but for their sin, God banished them from Eden, forcing them to live on the much less forgiving world outside of paradise.
