[Alright, so Hawkeye may, in fact, have spent some time going through the device and getting familiar with it, and he may have read up on the situation at hand, but he's not one to run in without a plan. Well, not into all-out war, anyway. He may also have noticed some familiar people in the archives.

Unobtrusive, he stands in a corner of the banquet hall, sending out a short message:]

I heard there's some things that need shooting. My kind of welcome.

That would be good to know. Am I going to have to go trial and error on that one?

If you can hit between the eyes, that's usually a good place to start.

That's what I was thinking, but if they have their brains elsewhere, what good does that do anybody?

I'd be a lot more worried that a bullet to the brain won't work.

I don't really go for bullets. Now, if a bullet--arrow--to the brain doesn't work? Then we have a talk about a tactical retreat.

Oh sure, a showoff. [Bringing a knife to the gunfight is all kinds of cocky.]

You can usually take 'em down anyway, it just takes a couple more hits. Or a bigger gun.

Showoff? I'm talented. [Yeah, as if he needs a gun when his arrows can blow something sky high. But it does sound pretty primitive to the uninitiated.]

I just head for the higher ground and see what I can do to them while they can't reach me. More fun that way.

Yeah, that can work out, here. Depending on what you like to shoot.

Whatever needs shooting. Sometimes I even take orders.

Really depends who you're expected to take them from.

That's the problem. My boss hasn't shown up yet. I guess I'm on my own.

Any suggestions on where to start?

Yeah, listen to the guys that brought you here. They're real trustworthy. [He's obviously sarcastic.]

I think I'll check for familiar faces and then blindly do what I'm told.

So why're you asking my opinion? I'm career military, I don't have those.

Just checking to see if you've got an opinion, too.

But I'm thinking I'll get oriented and go throw myself into the fray, wise or not. I might as well help.
