[The sounds of outside filter through the network, distant with little to be heard beyond the faint rustle of the wind, but there nonetheless. A distinctive clink-fwoosh of a lighter disrupts anything further, followed by the slow crackle of burning paper and tobacco and a satisfied inhale and steady exhale. When he finally speaks, it's with a tone that lacks interest.]

Well, isn't this quaint. Doubt I would have believed it were I not seeing it with my own eyes. At least the woman greeting me was persuasive enough. [You can practically hear the dirty little smirk.]

Even so, I'm not quite sure how I feel out of my home and sent on my merry way towards college kid dorm rooms. Or rather, I'm perfectly aware of how I feel about it, just the words I'm looking for aren't for public ears.

Still. Judging by the archives on this thing, there's plenty of you about who know this world, so come on, share your wisdom with an outsider, would you? One can never know too much.

[A pause as he inhales another lungful of smoke, eventually adding with a thoughtful exhale:] Oh, and don't patronise me with the basics. I'm curious, not stupid.

Pretty cool. Fortunately Adam was around anyway, so it doesn't take him long to reach the apartments--or spot Mr Bond outside. Somehow he was half expecting him to have attracted an audience by now but apparently... not?

Anyway, Adam keeps his cool, eyes hidden behind glasses, face and voice impassive as always,; and even temporarily forgets how weird he must look himself--you know, if you cared to look at his hands and all. ]

[The moment he catches sight of company, James is shoving his notebook aside and pushing himself to his feet. A hand idly flicks his latest cigarette away while he fives a curious once over of the other, checking out the opposition. He notes the oddities but, for now, avoids questioning, instead rolling his shoulders and (unconsciously) puffing out his chest like he's ready for a fight.]

Mr. Jensen, how nice of you to be so prompt.

[ Can't blame him. Guy must be confused right now, but Adam just hadn't been able to resist--his expression doesn't waver either way and he just crosses his arms in front of his chest. ]

[ Well it's true. But you also don't keep a British gentleman waiting. Not that he'd know, but Adam is actually closely looking at his face and ~~hey that gotta be the actor that played Bond before Robert Pattinson took over--~~ is very tempted to collect some data, but he restrains himself. Convenient. There's a lot about this place that seems convenient.

[ ~~ADAM'S VERSION OF THE FUTURE IS TERRIBLE ALL AROUND~~ Yes well. Understandable--but Adam's still now sure if he should explain how exactly he knows. Mostly he wanted to test if what happened in the movies really applies to this one, and the reaction had been very telling. ]

You'd think. This place has nothing to do with it, aside from screwing with reality and being some--multiverse hub.

I just didn't think it'd extend that far. Did you ever read a book--or watch a movie--and found yourself wishing those stories to be more than just fiction, Mr Bond.

[Usually James is so much better at bluffing his way through things, but with the whole being dragged to a new universe and having personal facts revealed, Bond's allowed to be a little on edge.]

Well. [ Adam never exactly did either, perhaps when he'd been 12 years old--but he's sure a lot of other people do. ] Describes pretty well what's happening, anyway. In my place and time, 'James Bond' is part of our pop culture. That's why.

[ And now Adam really has to wonder if this only applies to his own version of Earth...? Is there really no one else who knows about Bond's exploits around here? Does this mean they've got a special Bond-bond here??

[It's a lie anyway. There were days of his childhood and teens of wishing he was some scoundrel like Han Solo. Pretty much his teen idol.]

I think you've mistaken me. James Bond is a rather common name. No one would need to hear of my exploits. [Still, with his senses still scoping Adam out, James idly glances off to one side, considering this whole sodding mix up. Since he's showed up here- which is unbelievable in itself- Bond has already witnessed all sorts on the network's archives. Hell, he's even rooming with a guy who claims to be 'The Doctor'. Multiple universes aren't entirely inconceivable, and things will be a little different from one place to the next...]

[ Oh don't get Adam started on Star Wars. Adam changes posture and puts a hand on his hip; he's not surprised by Bond's ~denial~ really. ]

Let's see... it's been a while since I watched any of the movies, and I didn't really bother with the recent ones since they all looked like shit. But I remember watching Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace a few years back. That's the story about your first mission as double oh, wasn't it. Had to stop some guy called Le Chiffre from winning a poker tournament.
