You people need to stop making other people fight your battles for you and learn to stand on your own two feet. It's not my job to hold your hand into a better future.

Oh, you don't need magic to do that, just an inflated sense of how important your own problems are. Magic just makes it easier.

Well, there's that. But I meant more when the powers that be decide they have a sense of humour.

[She frowns] Our magic originates from...magic. And magic is what does the meddling. Each kingdom forms a pattern and the magic reinforces it. More than one farmboy has become a prince in Orandin because of a few coincidences in the distant past that the magic latched onto.

[andhishat]

Ah, I understand. Our magic takes the form of a Goddess, Mysteria. She was, well, it's complicated, but needless to say she is not just a goddess of magic, she is magic given form. It seems your magic feels no need or has no will to take such a image, and has a bit more of a love of cliches.

[choseherownway]

It depends on the kingdom. I mean, I think. It forms in different ways all over the world.

[andhishat]

Really? There are regional variations in how magic works? That's fascinating! Could it be fluctuations in the leylines or sources of magic, or perhaps the magic itself wishes it to work as such...
