What is it that the United Earth wants from the Initiative that keeps us alive? That last curbstomping we received doesn't leave much room for debate about our chances.

Is it the tech? Are we a propaganda tool? An experiment?

Throw some ideas out there.

[Well, that puts a frown on her face, though it's not camera visible.]

...I guess that's a good question, isn't it? You can't really know unless you ask the United Earth. Or possibly the Initiative itself.

There are people here working closely with them, aren't there? Maybe they could shed some light. So that, whatever we're doing, we can... keep doing it.

I know we have a liaison of some kind. Maybe more than the one I've heard of, but I don't know them. I haven't had problems asking the Initiative questions myself, but I'd like to get other ideas, too, before I go pepper them with questions.

I suppose. It just seems as if the more speculation you do, the more gruesome the ideas get.

[strategic_guile]

That's the fun part. [Laughs.] But, no. Seriously, a few more ideas won't hurt. I don't have to bring the gory and more ridiculous ones to their attention unless they seem likely.

[taijiya]

To be honest, I'd have liked to think that there's something we have that keeps them from going all-out, but... that's not very probable.

[strategic_guile]

Even if there is, it won't help unless we find out what it is. It's not fun feeling like a mouse being toyed with by a cat, even if cornered mice are vicious.

[taijiya]

No, it's really not, is it? It's hard fighting an enemy with seemingly no way to hold our own.

[strategic_guile]

Yeah. [Sigh] Well, if something is ever figured out and I find out about it, I'll let you know.

[taijiya]

Yes, please do... but in other areas, how are you?

[strategic_guile]

[He pauses]

I'm doing fine. Same thing day in and day out. I'm going to have to pull back on weight lifting or I'll lose flexibility. And you?

[taijiya]

Pretty much the same as usual.

I didn't know you were working with weights.

[strategic_guile]

Can't get these muscles with only resistance training. [Just a little smugness with his chuckle.]

Do you lift? Weights that is.

[taijiya]

Well.

[She kind of just points to the massive boomerang on her back.]

I don't generally need to.

[strategic_guile]

[He laughs.]

True. My equipment doesn't weigh nearly that much. Fortunately.

[taijiya]

And yet guns seem to be so much more effective.

[Guns. Ruining the art of battle!!!]

Unless I'm mistaken in assuming that those are your main weapon.

I won't argue against that. I lean towards the efficiency of guns.

[taijiya]

Admittedly, if they had existed when I started training, I probably would have chosen them too.

[strategic_guile]

You had a choice of weapons? There's not much to choose from, for me. Just what you want to do with the knowledge.

[taijiya]

Well, when you don't have the convenience of guns, there are a variety of other weapons that are equally matched when wielded with skill. So yes, you have a choice.

What other weapons did you think about choosing?

[taijiya]

I thought about all the ones I knew of. Naginata, kusarigama, swords, knives, arrows, spears... but I wanted something different, that hadn't been used before.

[strategic_guile]

...well, I can see why a giant boomerang hadn't been used before. There's no hiding that.

[taijiya]

Well, usually hiding isn't the point.

[strategic_guile]

[He hopes not.]

Only usually? How do you sneak around if you have to?

[taijiya]

Very carefully.
