[ Meditation in Exsilium wasn't as divine as in Cyrodiil, the spiritual disconnect weighting heavily in Martin. Still, he'd gotten into the manic state characteristic of magickal surplus, jittery and unfocused regardless of how many fireballs or icestorms he'd conjured. Sometimes, wasting your entire magicka pool helped, but that wasn't a luxury he could afford in times of war, when so many relied or could rely on his healing.

Sitting in a half-lotus position, in the middle of the patio that leads to the Initiative's library, Martin tries to ignore the outside world, concentrating on his breathing, and a lap-ful of kitten, rheumy-eyed, one of its legs in a white cast.

Finding its mother was a bust; that's what you get for being a bleeding heart, healing limping kittens living out of the trashcans behind your place of work. ] Maybe your mother and siblings just went to search for some food...

Anders and I, Martin Septim, would like to meet those who have magical aptitude. Whether you can shoot lighting from your hands or summon insects, it doesn't matter. [ A pause. ] We can't continue to be as disorganized as we were in our last battle.

And if you are healer, either through magical or mundane means, I beg you, contact us. We have enough fighters as it is, but I only know of two other healers besides myself.

We're thinking a meeting at one of the training rooms this Lored— sorry, Saturday afternoon. If that won't work, let us know, we'll work something out.

He quirks an eyebrow slightly at the mention of swords and the hesitance surrounding the word rifle, but remembers just before he makes a fool of himself what he's been told about the weird time and planet shit things that have been going on here.::

I know runic warding magic, but it's specifically tailored to situations in my universe. I doubt it will come in use much here.

We could still try. In my realm, magic is drawn from another plane native to our universe, yet I'm not having problems casting magic here.

The problem isn't that it won't work - I believe it still will.

The problem is that outside of keeping people safe from magical creatures it has very little practical application.

However, if you're able to cast warding magic, you might be able to learn spells from the other mages here.

It is possible, though I have no innate talent for magic. My methods were the sort that could draw on the magic native to the environment.

However, even if my magic has no practical application, I would be interested in attending this meeting.

Good idea with the meeting; magic-users will probably be more likely to reveal themselves to a fellow mage.

I really more healers come forward, especially ones that can revive in battle. As good as Pounce is, he can't do all the work himself.

[And people say Nathaniel doesn't have a sense of humor. He's just glad this is private so that Anders won't know that Nathaniel actually called the cat by his name for once.]

It was Anders' idea, really. I'm not used to being as...cautious about my status as a mage than he is.

[ Martin laughs. ] I asked Anders if Ser Pounce is a magical cat. He didn't seem to know, but there's magical cats in Tamriel, so I'm assuming Ser Pounce is.

It's possible. Anders swears that a cat he onced had while living in the Tower actually turned into a rage demon.

I don't doubt that either. Spirits will possess whatever's readily available, though they prefer more sentient beings.

According to Anders, the cat was something of a hero. He took out three Templars after being possessed.

[There's a fond smile accompanied by an eyeroll, as if to say, "It's Anders, what else would you expect?"]

[ Martin stifles his laughter. This is so Anders. ] I think I'll take precautions so none of the cats in our household become possessed...

[ One-handed, Martin holds up a grey kitten to the camera. ] I...hadn't set out wanting a pet this morning. But he had a broken leg, I took him into the clinic to put a cast on, and now I can't find his mother.

You'd be a tremendous help at the clinic, then.

[ Martin sighs. ] It isn't that it was a bad battle, but rather that we were very disorganized. They largely left us to our own devices, without a central chain-of-command.

That's typical of the Initiative, which is why a lot of us don't have a lot of confidence in their leadership. I know I don't.
