For those of you who may not know me, I’m Nathaniel Howe, one of the newly promoted sergeants of the transport section of the Exsilium city watch. I will do my best to protect the citizens and the transports, and offer my services whenever needed.

However, there is something much more important that I need to discuss. I and my fellow Grey Warden Duncan have just returned from a brief reconnaissance excursion in United Earth territory. We weren’t able to glean very much new information regarding our enemy, but we did procure this:

[Nathaniel holds up a small vial--approximately half the size of a standard test-tube--filled with some unknown liquid]

We found this on one of the citizens of the United Earth, and we have great reason to believe that it contains the drug that is being used to keep the citizens docile, and to prevent them from rising up against their leaders.

Unfortunately, neither Duncan nor myself has been able to determine what exactly is contained in the solution. We are, of course, sharing what we’ve found with the Initiative, but I am also calling on my fellow transports to see if there is anyone who has the knowledge or means to possibly determine what ingredients are in the drug, and to hopefully find an antidote.

If you are interested in helping, please let me know. I’m also willing to answer whatever questions anyone might have about what we learned.

[OOC INFO: So Duncan and Nathaniel have been gone for about a week, scoping out the United Earth territory. The drug they brought back is a very small supply that all citizens are required to carry on them for emergency purposes.

The information provided by our lovely moderators is that no one will be able to determine the chemical make-up of the drug, as it contains futuristic ingredients that none of the transports would be familiar with. BUT! We would love to get some transports involved in trying, either by handwaving or logging or whatever. So yeah, everyone’s free to jump in on this!]

I don't know if I know enough myself--I'm not a pharmacist--but if there's a way I can help, I'll do my best.

I appreciate the offer, anyway. There needs to be a lot more willingness to work together around here.

Keeping people safe and healthy is my first priority here. I only wish I knew more about formulation of drugs. The best I might be able to do on my own would be find things to counter the obvious effects if I saw it work.

But, I might be able to offer something to the table by helping others.

Unfortunately, seeing it work is not an option I'm willing to explore, at least not yet. We found vials of this drug on several of the citizens we saw in the city, so I'm almost positive it's what I proclaimed it to be--but I could still be wrong. It might be some sort of poison instead, something that would be fatal if ingested by one of us.

I understand. A method like that would only be a last resort.

I would be happy to help others with the research though. If nothing else, I can play gopher.

I'm sure that would be appreciated.

You said your priority is keeping people safe and healthy here... have you volunteered your services at the transport clinic?

I have. I'm still getting my bearings, but whenever I can, I'm there.

[The trouble with all his exploring is that he isn't there as much as he'd like, but he doesn't want to risk more people stumbling across him in wolf form so he has to search for a better place.]

I'm sure I'll be spending a lot more time there when I'm settled.

That's good to hear; they can use all the help they can get.

How long have you been here?

About two months now, but there have been a couple issues.

[Which he doesn't dare share so he rushes past that.]

I think I've finally overcome them so I can start really settling in.

That's good to hear. It was difficult for me to get settled in at first; everything's so different here than the world I came from.

I can say the same thing. All the destruction here... It's depressing when I think about it too hard.

War is never pretty. It's a shame... I found a book in the library that had pictures of this world from centuries ago--it was a beautiful place.

It was. I just wish I knew if this place was healing or getting sicker. I haven't been here long enough to tell.

If it is healing, there's hope.

I've been here for nearly a year, but I couldn't tell you how much healing has actually occurred, though things have certainly changed. Our actions in the past have had at least some small impact.

I'll take that knowledge as a comfort, as small as it is. Thank you.
