[Hello! It's been awhile since he's done one of these, but in the spirit of a new year, and the love of everything he's had to drink, Cailan thinks this is a great time to show everyone something he's been working on for awhile. Hence why he has the biggest, brightest smile on his face.]
Back in Ferelden, there are some celebrations to bring in the new year. But not as many as you would think! None to the extent of the celebrations here, in this place. I found, while being dragged on an excursion to many different bars, that there are many who do not watch out for the perils of such a place. [And he really does not want anyone to get hurt, here.]
And truly, there are some terrible things in this world that, if you are not vigilante, will harm you, or your loved ones, in many ways. As we all know, most of the people here are not from the same world. And even if they are, they could be of a different race entirely. As king of my homeland, I feel it is my duty to ensure, not just the safety of my subjects, but those who may not be able to protect themselves. The best way to do this is to impart knowledge. Knowledge, my friends, is the first step in protecting yourself! And so, to start off the new year, I will be sharing what I know to everyone about...
Werewolves. [He is deadly serious.]

There is some basic information that everyone should know about werewolves:
~ Werewolves, also known as lycanthropes, are not a myth. They are real, as real as you and me.
~ They only change under a full moon, so you are safe except on a full moon!
~ Once they are a wolf, they are uncontrollable. They cannot be reasoned with, argued with; they will behave like a wolf.
~ To become a werewolf, you need to be bitten by one. Or be possessed by a demon. Maybe both at the same time.
~ Some werewolves say they can change at will. I don't believe this, but many do!
~ Werewolves don't have tails. I've never seen a werewolf up close, but this I have learned from others.
~ They do not have opposable thumbs! This means they cannot wield weapons, and they do not wear armor.
~ Werewolves travel in packs. It's best if you stay clear of the leader.

But, Cailan Theirin, king of Ferelden, how can you tell if someone is a werewolf or not? Your first conversation with a werewolf should be as thus:
"Hello, I am Cailan Theirin, king of Ferelden, and we will be living together in this set of small rooms."
"Hello, I am your roommate and I have a terrible secret!"
"Yes, what is this secret? Perhaps you are a werewolf?"
However, if you choose for that to not be your first conversation, here are some simple ways to tell if you are in close contact with a werewolf in human form:
~ Check under their tongue for bristles! If they will not show their tongue willingly, you should attempt to check while they are asleep.
~ If you cut a human that is also a werewolf, there will be fur under the cut. Make sure it is not from their shirt.
~ Do you often hear howling from your neighbor's home during a full moon? This could be a sign of lycanthropy.
~ Is the person abnormally hairy? If so, they may just need to keep their hair trimmed. Or they could be a werewolf.
*Does not include my good friend, who does not need to worry about this sort of thing.
~ Does this person own any large pets that occasionally disappear? Are they then replaced by other large pets? Werewolves enjoy eating large things, animals in particular.
~ Some believe that to tell if a person is a werewolf, they will need to check their urine. Purple means that there could be a possible problem.

Once you have identified that a person is a werewolf, it is now the time to take action! Guard yourself and your loved ones from the terrible hurt a werewolf can cause! There are many ways:
~ Werewolves are weak to silver. In this world, there are such things called "silver bullets", but in Ferelden, we make due with swords inlaid with silver.
~ Cutting off the head of a werewolf is the only way to kill it. It can then be stuffed and hung as a trophy in your castle!
~ There is a plant known as "Wolfsbane" that will keep a werewolf at bay. Many theories abound, but if you make small bouquets of it and hang them around your house, I'm sure that will work.
~ There is no way to save someone who has been bitten. All you can do is hope for the best.
*I have now been informed that you could try to kill the wolf that bit you, but it seems to be what they call a "mixed bag" of results.
From what I have read, lycanthropy is a true issue, across many different worlds. I can only hope and pray to Andraste that this will help someone out there. I, King Cailan Theirin, will try to stay abreast on the other races of people in this world, so that I may give the gift of knowledge once again to the good people on this "network".
[You're welcome, everyone.]

But he really doesn't know where to start, so.]
Why purple.

I'm not very sure! I was going through the library's books on werewolves, and it was mentioned, so I made sure to include it. I would not want anyone to find out that way and not be warned beforehand!

Of course, my good lady! I am always eager to learn more, anything that I could possibly add to my lists would be greatly appreciated. <

I don't know that anyone would appreciate someone checking their tongue for... ... bristles? Werewolf or no. But why bristles?
Are there such creatures here?
[ Video ]
If there was a chance that I could be turned into a werewolf, I would much rather have someone check for me, the find out too late! Bristles... I'm not entirely sure what bristles are, but they must be important to werewolves, for them to keep them under their tongue!
[A lot of nodding.] Yes, there are. But they are not bad people! Oh, no, they are merely afflicted with a terrible illness.

Oh, by the way, he's also coming over. He needs to ask her opinion on his in depth analysis of werewolves, and also check up on her. Also he has a question to ask. Several questions to ask.
And don't try to keep him out of your apartment, you know that won't go well. He might not break the door down, but he won't leave. And yes, that is a knock on your door!]

I'm not familiar with werewolves back home but the norn have something similar. They carry the blessing of one of their four spirits of the wild and can taken on the shape of a wolf, raven, snow leopard, or bear.
no subject
Really? [That is... is that similar?] But isn't that what witches do? They turn into different animals? Or can they only change on the full moon as well?

From what legends told about these beasts, I do remember they're supposed to have tails. Who was it that stated otherwise, Your Highness?
video; Yes good I needed this cr. I really, really, really needed it.
Do they? [A little bit of shock, but he was wondering.] I read it in a book in the library, here! I had assumed, at first, that they did have tails, but, I admit, I've never actually seen a werewolf in person.

I'm afraid, Your Majesty, that you might have some of your details mixed up. For the most part, werewolves are not our enemies. In fact, I know of no other group of them in Ferelden, as the only group I found was dealt with.
video;
I don't consider them true enemies! They are something to be wary of, they truly are people, but with an unfortunate affliction. [Nodding, until he is surprised, but in a very pleasing way.]
You've met werewolves in your travels? [Oh. My. God.]

Wow this is actually really helpful. Though there's no werewolves in Unova
maybewho knows what there could be here in the future? Besides, there was something about werewolves in other regions at some point of time, right? An outbreak of Full Moon Fever or-- maybe it was Nightmares at New Moon. Uh. Whatever. It's still interesting!]This is a lot of information to take in, your highness. There's no such things back home, except in horror movies and stuff, but I can't possibly scratch off the idea there could be some here! What if we go back in time and meet some?
video
It is possible! Everything seems possible in this world. Even meeting a werewolf, or a vampire, or a witch, or an elf! This place has a wealth of information, ours for the taking.
