[Well heβs put off fiddling with this tablet thing for long enough... time to figure this all out. He goes through the tutorial... twice... but still ends up getting onto the network before he means to, so... this starts with some shuffling around, retreating footsteps and eventually an oddly accented voice coming from a little ways away: ]
I'm... Dammit. [Then the footsteps quickly returning and the sound of the tablet being picked up and moved around, voice slightly surprised: ] You're going? Don't do th--
[The sound goes dead as he accidentally flips it first to text... before finally he appears on screen, blinking, eye flickering over to note that the tablet's still on and still recording. Takes a quick breath to collect his thoughts again, grabbing the cigarette hanging at the edge of his lip just before it falls]
Uh... [...right] So'm I understanding right that not all of you have military training? Or even know how to fight? [...] Can I ask who's idea that one was... [Cause it's a bad one 8'| Pauses a moment to light his cigarette with a match, taking a long pull on it and holding it out for the camera] Also uh, if anyone could point me towards more of these, I'd appreciate it, you know?

Sounds like. The thing linking us all is that we're [finger quotes] "unique", you know?

Not thinking anything yet. Haven't met enough people here to form my own opinion, you know? [He's just repeating what someone else said to him fffff Leans towards the camera a little]
You agree though? You're... unique?
no subject
Maybe. Too soon to say for sure.
She just shrugs and smiles pleasantly at the question. ]
I'm definitely not run of the mill, at least compared to most people back home. What about you?
no subject
So what's makes you special, huh?
no subject
[ That's the lie she's been spreading around, at least. Also, perceptive as she is, she gets the feeling he's not being entirely honest either. Makes things interesting. ]

An actor...? You must feel really out of place then, huh? [He's just... terribly amused at this thought fff]
no subject
[ Seriously. It's a mucking dump. But she remains all smiles, appreciative of how ridiculous (and fitting) her made up background story is. ]

[sldkfj he's from the equivalent of industrial England, gross poorly constructed cities are pretty standard to him]
Just wish the air wasn't so strange, you know...? [Being sensitive to nature in the midst of pollution and nuclear fallout sucks 8<]

Maybe...? I suppose it depends what you mean by better, huh? [Clean big brother cities vs dirty commune cities]

[ Still, it would be nice to see for herself, especially if she's going to be stuck here long term. ] But if I got the chance visit and there was reason to believe I'd be safely able to come back, maybe even bring back something useful...
[ A shrug. ] A lot of "if"s, but it's not entirely out of the question. Something prettier to look at, even if it's only on the outside and the inside is rusted and rotten.

I guess so. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll send you there on a mission, huh? Gotta be something an actor can do for them... [Huhuhu]

Some information on how they live over there, how to fit in properly, and I might be able to do it... [ Not any time soon. And only if she's sure she could manage the act well enough. Jumping into a job too soon is something she's learned never to do if she can help it. ] I wouldn't be so out of place here as we originally thought if I could manage it, hm?

[Little smile 8>c Cause I mean... he's aware that's kind of a douchey thing to say, but it is, ultimately, the point of this whole post ldkjsf]

One hundred and six... Frabbiwhat. Huh??
no subject
The one hundred and six runes used in the Frabbian Archipelago to document their thrice-damned language in writing. [ Said patiently, and with a smile. ] The people of my country enjoy a long history of hostility and disdain towards Frabbia and its people, and yet most are still incredibly impressed when they encounter someone who can belch the runes in a pub somewhere.
no subject
Sounds like uh... some of the Eastern tongues... where I'm from. Never understand why they needed all those letters... [Heh... possibly teasing her now???] Thrice-damned seems a little much to me though... you know?
no subject
[ Ah, subtle jabs at the heathen Frabbians. Reminds her of home. But, they digress! ]
Anyway, my point still stands. Anyone's usefulness here depends on what they decide to do with themselves, not any particular talents or lack thereof they may have had at home.

[Besides! He's in a mess of multiculturalism in the meantime and humans get more and more fascinating to him the older he gets. So!]
How is it an island goes about being thrice-damned by God?
no subject
It could be.
But probably not for her. If the people here learn more about her world, that won't affect her, personally, and that's all that matters. Unless they happen to get curious about Glen herself, there's little harm in telling a few fun facts about Vermall and Frabbia. Glen's well versed enough in lying and misleading when it comes to herself that even if the conversation starts to tilt that way, she's sure she can manage to lead it and not be lead by it.
So after a sort sigh and the start of an apologetic smile, she continues. ] Sorry to disappoint you, but in the literal sense? It probably doesn't. I'm pretty sure that's just stuff the priests made up, sort of a religious propaganda. Kind of like, "Don't ever stray from God's Tenets, or you'll be damned as a trice-damned Frabbian". And since no self-respecting citizen of Vermall wants to be compared to a Frabbian, it generally works. There might be some tale or another explaining it in a religious sense and not a cultural one, but muck-all if I know it.
[ In case you couldn't tell she's sort of not that religious. At all. ]

Kinda figured that'd be the case, yeah. Can't think of a time where it hasn't been anyway, you know?
