Chaper 3 [video]

[The video starts out with nothing out of the ordinary, just Alice looking like she has something to say and indeed she does. Even if, like typical, she doesn't look particularly healthy. Pale skin, dark circles around her eyes... Some of you have already seen her like that. Others might be a little confused at the drastic change in appearance.

Still, that's a story for another time.]

It certainly has been a rather trying number of days, hasn't it? I must say that-

[... or not. Her pendant quickly begins to glow more and more brightly, much to Alice's surprise.]

What in the name of...?

[Brighter and brighter it gets, until a blinding flash hits the screen, accompanied by an audible "boom" and the sound of her device being dropped. Everything is silent for the next couple of minutes as the camera continues to record nothing but white. Finally, the brightness subsides and the view goes back to normal. But where's Alice?]

Blasted thing. Would it be asking too much for a warning next time? Your timing is as inconvenient as that mangy Cat's.

[She sounds alright at least, and her words are no less sharp. That's good too.

Viewers now hear the sound of approaching footsteps as someone steps in front of the fallen communicator. Striped stockings and knee-high black boots...

The device is lifted back up and, and the legwear from before was actually Alice's! In fact, she looks rather different all around, and considerably healthier. Though some might actually recognize this form of hers more than the disheveled girl they saw moments ago. Despite what happened, she looks rather calm.]

My apologies for what just transpired. I've yet to fully master usage of my so-called "weapon".

Well, there's no sun in Exsilium. Does anything really get much better than not decent when it's cloudy.

Weather I'm certainly used to, though we should be grateful that it hasn't taken a turn for the worse.

Oh, it certainly could be. I have heard rather bad things about your planet's winter.

What exactly have you heard?

Well, for one thing it gets cold, as we've seen already. For another you have this crystalline precipitation that you call "snow" which commonly blocks ways and leads to accidents. I could go on but that's about all I know. I've never seen winter proper until now.

Winter can be an enjoyable enough time, provided you've dressed appropriately for it.

Oh? How would one go about this?

[bittertears]

More than one layer of clothing, and perhaps gloves and a scarf. The idea is to obviously remain as warm as possible while also dressing comfortably.

A coat would be an excellent way to keep yourself warm.

I will have to think about this.

Though I'm not sure I can afford it; I have Christmas presents to purchase.

Perhaps you might end up receiving it as a present of your own? A possibility to think about.
